Can't recall with Rave Racer, but in Rave Racer it is mirrored, not reverse in that context. There was also some way to drive courses in reverse (opposite of the regular racing direction). I have never managed to get button combination required to do it to work on MAME, when I tried it but it exists.
I still love this game because it's the first time home 3D felt like an arcade. PlayStation 1 was a little beast... It was consistently better than Saturn

In Ridge Racer (PS1) and Ridge Racer Revolution your car has 4 KM/H higher top speed if you use Manual Transmission. Also I do some good drifting to gain some extra speed.

You can do it woth everything, and for some player mild suits them better! I personally prefer dyn also for the reason of more driftiness = easier to get yourself in blocking positions in tougher position. If there is one thing I reach an agreement with people when I talk about this, it seems that everyone agrees on Standard being worst lol.
Can we just talk about how in RR1 PSP, the AI have like 30+ more miles per hour on their top speed, but their strategy is to… be at the same speed as you whenever you drive alongside them. 😕
Is there a reason why speedrunners use Angel Kid instead of Devil Kid? Back in Ridge Racer 1 all special class cars had unique characteristics but I find that almost all of them are identical in RR2 which is kinds disappointing ngl. The only unique ones are the Kid cars and that purple pink ish one in special 1 that I can't remember the name of rn. Anyway I read on the WiKi that the two Kid cars are identical and it's just a re-skin and therefore a preference, so do runners use it because it's first in the menu and therefore faster to choose or is there some micro micro difference between them that runners prefer? Just crious. ☺ The second question is manual transition, why? All runners use MT and not AT... why is this? Is it a preference again or can you actually go faster by manually shifting gears somehow? Like is there a manual strat everyone uses? 👀 Oh and sick run btw, I've been trying to beat MAX Tour for 15 years and gave up long ago after having given it a try every year now and again. It is my favourite racer ever and I'm a completionist to the bone and this was the only game I never beat 100% which bothered me my whole life. Got curious and decided to look up speedruns of the game and here I am having watched this run analysing it since you posted it, I got inspired and now... after 15 years... I beat both RR1 and 2 MAX tour on hard no less and MAN... what I rush, so thank you man! 😃 Lastly, speaking of random facts like the one you mentioned about assassins in Finnish in the video, I'm Swedish/Hungarian, so we're brothers in language and culture! 😎So good WR brother! You can maintain speed better with it during drifts, there are differences with how kid cars act when driving. Crinale Kid is only better for Diablo Canyon Road.

I like how some of the IdolM@ster cars have slightly different body kits and details on them. The Promessa, Elenie, and Evolver all look slightly different from their normal counterparts. I wished they released these versions to the Western side with different, non IdolM@ster liveries and just normal racing ones.
