I think if you came here searching for the relationship between consumerism and fiat, you really don't need to be explained for half the talk what is fiat ; maybe an overview in the introduction, then move on. Also I read chapter 13 of professor Hülsmann's book _The Ethics of Money,_ discussing the cultural issues of fiat, hoping to find more development and detail about the topic, and I must say it is light and flimsy with almost no research: the topic sections are tiny (some half a page) and way too much is devoted to Catholic interpretations of money, while not a word is discussed about *consumerism,* the defining modern social habit created by fiat (after all we are all continuously getting rid of fiat currencies to exchange against physical or financial goods) and one that determines everything in our lives from the way we live to the urban planning of our cites, transportation, social relationships, etc.!
