On New Year's Eve, high school juniors Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) meet at a ski lodge party during winter break. The two are called upon to sing a duet together for karaoke ("Start of Something New"). Returning to school after the break, Troy sees Gabriella in his homeroom. She explains that she has just moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and transferred to East High School over the break. As Troy shows Gabriella around the school, Drama Club President Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) assumes that Gabriella is interested in auditioning for the school musical. Wanting to eliminate competition, Sharpay has Scholastic Decathlon Captain and Chem Club president Taylor McKessie (Monique Coleman) investigate Gabriella's past academic achievements to recruit Gabriella for the Scholastic Decathlon. As a result, Taylor and Gabriella become friends over their shared interests.

I can totally see how Ashley Tisdale shadowed Rachel McAdams’ role as Regina George, especially with the screams she did. That was the same exact scream Rachel McAdams’ did as Regina. As a matter of fact, I could see Ashley being the 2024 musical Regina George.
Ryan is my favorite guy character in high school musical especially in hsm2 and Gabriella is my favorite girl character and plus I love them together so much because they have very similar personalities and they have been both hurt by everyone so they are my favorite characters and couple ❤😊
I think Monique and Chad did the right thing breaking up Gabriella and Troy because they should’ve stayed broken up and Gabriella could’ve started her and Ryan’s relationship because it totally makes sense to have Ryan and Gabriella together as girlfriend and boyfriend I wish Gabriella and Ryan are the star couple of high school musical movies I love high school musical 2 the best
