Mentioning both Clarence Nash and Jim MacDonald: the longtime voice of Donald Duck and the second voice of Mickey Mouse. Both of them performed the vocalizations for the Bear in Fox and the Hound. Nash did the "fresh" roars and snarls, while MacDonald provided the growls using his chimney lamp.
I commented earlier this last evening on a studio album of the Orrells you had posted. This is the cream and cherry topping of that group's recodings, in my opinion. I was born and raised in Michigan. The Detroit area gave southern gospel fans, along with others, the Orrells and the Toney Brothers. Two outstanding groups during the great golden age of classic quartet music. Thanks as always, Steve, for all of your hard work in sharing these wonderful treasures with so many! God bless you!!!
I got to hear at least three of these guys years ago, in a group they put back together for The Grand Old Gospel Reunion in Greenville, S.C. late 1980s or early 1990s
If Taylor Swift were to listen to "He Loves Me" she would have to hide her face in shame over the crap she churns out. Then, like anyone blessed with a clear view of the futility of life without Jesus, she might see that He loves her, too.
Loved the Orrells/Gordon Jensen & Sunrise! We lived in Indiana and saw them many times. They were not flashy just delivered the music and message superbly. This particular album was special to me. Possibly their peak? Hard to say since they all meant a lot to me and us kids. Thanks for the download. I went back to 1972 and into the presence of the Lord. Tears. Joy. Peace. This could be a greatest hits album! No fillers. Jensen was on a roll. They were stretching musically and creatively as were most groups, making this the greatest era of gospel music. Lastly, they even dared address current events in Help Us Jesus. Yes! The war in Vietnam is mentioned.
This is one of my all time favorite albums by Wendy bagwell and the sunliters made in 1971- 9689- Marvin Norcross Canaan records. Marvin Norcross was a phenomenal producer president and founder of Canaan records
I have been watching for someone to upload these for years. I have been recording them off of BBN Radio with a digital recorder for my own use but only have about a dozen so far. Thought they might come in handy in ministering to folks in nursing homes. I have always been curious if this program was Jan Karon’s inspiration for her Mitford series. There many similarities. Thank you again for uploading these.
Thank you for posting this. It brings me back to my childhood in the late 80’s listening in the car with my dad. He’s in heaven with Rusty now, and I can wait for the reunion.
THIS ALBUM HAS MY FAVORITE VERSION IF THE SONG "I BELIEVE"! I HAVE AN ALBUM BY MAHALIA JACKSIN, AND, SHE DOES IT ON THAT ALBUM, BUT, IN THE SPEER FAMILY ALBUM, THIS IS MY FAVORITE VERSION!
