Kafolike School of Percussion was founded on the basic principle that the best way for students to become knowledgeable and excel at playing djembe and doundoun is through intensive study and practice of Mandingue traditional music. For the past 3 years, the school has evolved into Chicago's biggest resource of training to adults and children yearning to learn as much as they can about the ancient history of the djembe orchestra. Students of all walks of life have come through the school to further their education of the musical culture of West Africa. Kafolike School of Percussion was founded by Sekou Conde, a seasoned and well learned djembe and doundoun player, who wanted to teach the history, technique and ethics of the drum and provide practical preparation for the performing and teaching djembe and doundoun player.
