Welcome to the Joyous Genealogy channel. My goal is to share my passion for family history with the World. I have a vision that this channel will help me help so many other people connect to their ancestors. I love genealogy and want to learn all that I can and share that with others. There's protection that comes from searching out our dead. In my faith, we do ordinances for the dead. We believe that the ordinances we do for them help them progress so that they can return back to our Heavenly Father. There are many spirits that didn't have a chance to receive the gospel while on this earth so that's why we help them out. They are linked to us and we are linked to them! I really hope you decide to stay and join in the joy of doing genealogy with me.

Cemeteries are my happy place. My husband's family are from here in Indiana, mine mainly from eastern North Carolina. This looks like a great tool to discover exactly where they are buried and how many you didn't even know about!
It's definitely a good tool to help find those buried relatives! I find one accidentally that helped me out with last name spelling in Indiana. It’s in the back logs of my videos I’m preparing
Also, is there a way that I can take my uncle's tree like have all the same info he does? I mean, who wouldn't want to have some names down to the 700's? I know I sure do
I want to be able to go in my family tree and say "show me all the other Melissa's" and go through my family's names and see how many others share that name. Also I read 2 great memory stories once and crap, I don't know who and where they are. Is there a way to do a family favorites list or something?
These are all great ideas. Definitely share them in the feedback tab in Familysearch. You can star people in family search to follow them. It will give you a list of those you follow. When you do that it puts them in a to do list on your main page. That’s how I keep track of people on family search that I want to come back to and you can add a note to them of what you were working on ect. You can make private living family trees now so I’m not sure if that answers your question.
Thanks, I was actually taught to teach it just like that for anyone new. I think we humans tend to over complicate things. I do anyways so this was good for me to learn and share so others can see how easy it is to get started and to get someone else started.
Family Search does this. I want all same surname by date range from one county. While results do show what is asked for, unrelated similar surnames appear even when checking Exact. So, all the latest dates.. not the 1700's dates appear first. No, and these similar names appear.. and there's 245 pages..to look through.
@@mixmediaproductions I feel your pain. They have a new update coming soon within full text search that will help you with some of these issues. I’m working on a video this week regarding the updates coming. It should be posted on the channel today. Thanks for watching and for your feedback
Wonderful! I’ve got lost looking at wills for hours in full text search. I’m What’s coming next is so exciting and is a game changer. I just found out about it Saturday. I’m hoping to talk about it more in the channel tomorrow. 😀
Hi! New listene/subscriber here. Great information. I'll definitely have to take a look, especially at the blog which I never seem to do. Love you intro too!
Thanks for subscribing and the compliment 😊 I love the new look of the catalog. It’s just more appealing not only to my eyes but the way my brain works. You can subscribe to the family search blog through your account settings If I remember right. Then you’ll always get an email when it’s released.
Hi from Murray Utah. Thank you for all the information you provided. Now I want to go to the genealogy library in Salt Lake City and see all the stuff they have.
Yea! 🤗 I love hearing that. my whole purpose of the channel is to inspire others to dive into their genealogy and find joy in doing it! Thanks for sharing. Please share your experience after you go. They say to figure out what you want to focus on while you’re there or you may feel overwhelmed.
You definitely need Photomyne. It saves me hours of time. I just want to get pictures digitized and I can always go back and label them that aren’t marked on the back. Always worry about a tornado or a fire coming through my house and all I really care about is my pictures and my family .
That could be something they’re planning on adding in the future. Family search is really trying to improve their products so they encourage feedback on their new tools and features so feel free to share your thoughts and ideas. They do read all of the feedback they just ask you hit the feedback button in the section you want to comment on.
Hey Jojo! We're at the Salt Lake FanX and over in that area right now! Next to our hotel on our block are the Family History Center and the Church History building! Sooo exciting! We will go to the Family History Center today and went to the Church History Center on Wednesday and they had just opened a new section that day. Workers told me that it was a surprise to them when they came into work! There were artifacts in this room all from the acquisition from the Church of Christ from March! What a blessing! I recorded some things and took pictures. What a strong Spirit there. We also recorded and took pictures of Temple square finished things and construction in action.
Awesome, I knew they were planning on putting the artifacts on display. Will you share your pictures on your channel? I’m excited to see them. Feel free to post some in our group but I understand if you want to save them for a video. Just give me a sneak peak in a message of temple square, artifacts and the library. lol Btw I feel so comfortable giving you my number. I do want to do a video with you. I’ve been dealing with health issues for the past several months so I’m still trying to stay a float. They have some exciting plans for the liberty jail and the independence visitor center in the works! 🤞 What will your main goal be today in the family history center? I’m so excited for you😀
18:05 😮 Thanks for sharing this Jojo! I missed this! Very very interesting. I think that since the Book of Mormon says that it takes place in the Americas and between things Joseph Smith has said and different evidences about what is unsealed happened in North America, that atleast part of the 2/3rds sealed happened in South America. I think this is preparation or foreshadowing to the things that we will learn in the second coming when we receive the knowledge of what is in the sealed portion
Thanks for sharing that. I’m not familiar with the history of that cemetery. I’m guessing from your comment you’ve been there? How long ago were you there?
Connie I checked and didn’t receive your entry. I can enter for you if you want to email me your full name and email address or you can retry it. Here’s my email joyousgenealogist@gmail.com
Congratulations on getting over a thousand subscribers now woot woot!. If I didn't tell you already that I help get two family groups on family search going on both my sides and we are doing a whole bunch of names into the 700s right now on one line 5:33 Yes I'm glad you just said that I could get one for somebody else because my husband and I have both tested but my daughter has a boyfriend who doesn't really know who his Dad is because his mom was under the influence of things at the time. But he seems to be finally ready to find out. But things are really tight. He works to help pay the rent and he just turned 17. It's kind of rough for him. So I will hop over there and enter and let you know how it goes
So I think you’re referring to the new family groups. You are amazing for getting that rolling for your family. Wow, I’m just think about how this will snowball for you and your family because once you get them started they’ll feel the spirit and become addicted, hopefully haha 😆 Yes definitely put your name in the raffle/ drawing. That would be great if you could win it for your daughter’s boyfriend. 🤞🙏
What I think is super cool is when I see a DOT out in the ocean and I find out there's an island there with the temple on it. How amazing is it? And whatever does it take to get a temple out in the ocean?
Oh what is your email for me to contact you directly? Yes I love the temple paintings too. There was one in particular when we shut down for some changes and they changed the paintings and put an awesome one where we have our meeting before shift. It was right behind the pulpit where the speakers would be and it was so distracting. I love that painting
@@CatchTheBuzz1 oh ya that rug in the foyer was the most beautiful riff I’ve ever seen. The round table with the intricate carvings in the celestial room was beautiful too. The carvings on it I think were similar to the the wood at the front desk. I’ve always wondered who they employ to do all the design and customization of all the furniture, lights and decor?
I don’t know if I’m advanced or intermediate. I’m certainly not a pro. This year I’ve added over 2000 individuals and many thousands of changes made. I kind of have a lot of other things going on too. I really like the new source linker. It’s helped to correct so many problems. It’s fairly user friendly.
Welcome!! I am genealogy nerd also. Do you use a software program for your genealogy research like roots magic or Family tree maker and if so, which one do you use or find most user friendly?
@@JoyousGenealogist I just use good ol’ family tree and ancestry and findagrave. I’m hoping to learn more from your content and others which may enable me to be more proficient.
@@mikepeterson7092 well I hope I don’t disappoint. I keep learning new stuff all the time. Seems like there’s a new tool or feature every time I log into family search or ancestry.
There are some parts you should clip out in order to make a more enjoyable experience for viewers. All the talking to yourself and lagging pc bits are a waste of time.
Since I have been going to the temple every week ( with few exceptions) it would be cool to do a collaboration video with you sometime talking about our experiences and others, and the effects with the church etc and some Family stories etc
I would love to collaborate with you! Anytime we can share family history and temple experiences we are helping to gather Israel by inspiring others to gather their ancestors.
I am so grateful for Family History and the opportunity that I have to go to the temple reasonably weekly. Even with having 7 kids and 5 still at home. I love Ordinance Ready. I feel you about time to do videos Joni! I have a job too and chickens and we do beekeeping. And we have 3 RU-vid channels! 1 that's Catch the Buzz, Faith based media and family. 2nd Love Notes From God, my channel about being a temple worker, my missions, seeing God's love notes to us in every day life. And Lord of the Sting that's about beekeeping! It's such an exciting opportunity to speak to and with people and learn and share. PS, I always like, comment and subscribe 😉
