Was there a grip you had to remove on that lift lever? I have a 116 I'm trying to get the shell off of and it's such a pain. I removed the groove pin on the steering wheel but it doesn't come off.. so that's preventing me from removing the dash tower and then the lift lever is preventing me from taking off the rear fender... I've been trying to look for hours.. Might have to get creative.
@JnP-Restorations
@JnP-Restorations 3 дня назад
@@NohCry i replaced the grip on the lift lever. The steering wheel also would not come off without me destroying it. I removed the steering shaft and left the shaft through the dash . The shifter ball i used a adjustable wrench around the shaft below the ball and tapped it with a hammer forcing it off. Im going off what i can remember. That was quite a few years ago. Lol

What’s the left side pedal for? I was thinking maybe you could do a video on the features of these 140s, and maybe a comparison with the 120 as well? A lot of people, including myself, didn’t know these had a seat adjuster lever (supposedly from ‘72 on), cigarette lighter, some had a single brake and some had two drums, etc. Also, I’ve noticed the headlight wiring is often disconnected and / or removed on these, so maybe a video on the wiring? I’ve noticed a difference in the voltage regulators, as far size and number of terminal connections. Best of all, would be a video showing all of your implements being attached / used with the sleeve hitch. I think my favorites would be the grader blade, box scraper, and last but not least, the trailer hitch adaptor -if you have one. For my arthritic back and knee, that would be great to put the ball under the tongue and lift it with the tractor.

@JnP-Restorations 21 день назад
I don't have enough 140's to show all the differences by year but here is a little bit of info about the pedals, you can go to tractordata.com for the serial number to year info. SN 1,001 to 10,000- One pedal on the left side that is a disconnect clutch pedal through the first part of depressing it and actuates brakes when fully down. Brakes on both rear wheels. Both H-1 and H-3 models. SN 10,001 to 38,000- Two right side pedals and one left side pedal. Left side pedal is a neutral return through first part of depressing it and a clutch disconnect when fully down. Right side pedals are individual brakes. Brakes on both rear wheels. Both H-1 and H-3 models. SN 38,001 to 46,608- One left side pedal. Pedal is a neutral return through first part of depressing it and a brake pedal when fully down. No disconnect clutch. Brake only on right rear wheel. H-1 models only. SN 38,001 to 46,883- Two right side pedals and one left side pedal. Left side pedal is a neutral return through first part of depressing it and a clutch disconnect when fully down. Right side pedals are individual brakes. Brakes on both rear wheels. H-3 models only. SN 46,609 and higher for H-1 models and SN 46,884 and higher for H-3 models- One left side and two right side pedals. Left side pedal is a neutral return only pedal and the right side pedals are individual brakes. Brakes on both rear wheels. No disconnect clutch.

I recently bought a ‘72 140 H1, and was happy to find it. It has a sleeve hitch, and it’s in nice condition….Hood, headlight panel, seat, you name it….all nice. I just have to get it running. Suspect that the battery was the problem, as one post came out in my hand when I was trying to get the cable terminal off the post. What can fit onto that sleeve hitch? I’ve seen a number of sleeve hitches, but never anything that attaches to them until a recent video showing a rear grader blade of some kind, that was attached to it. -it wasn’t a Deere, was black in color. Will a plastic battery box fit in that tiny battery tray? I ask, because I don’t want the battery leaking and corroding that tray.
@JnP-Restorations
@JnP-Restorations 22 дня назад
@@patrickflohe7427 Very nice. The sleeve hitch is for the Brinly attachments. I have the plow, grader blade, box blade, and the cultivator. You can also purchase other items like a rake, planter, even a hitch adapter to move trailers around. Not sure about a battery box fitting the small area.

Would like to get your opinion on the abilities of a 140 to pull, and more importantly STOP a lawn mower train. Our Ruritan club has 12 barrel cars that we used to pull behind a larger wheelhorse, but the tractor has seen it’s better days and beyond repair. I have several 140’s for sale in my area but I’m not familiar enough with them to know if it’s enough tractor

@JnP-Restorations
@JnP-Restorations 24 дня назад
@@jeffreys.3322 i know a 140 would pull and stop with no issues but the 318, 322, or even better 332 would do the same with but power steering. If the power steering isn’t an issue, you should be fine. I’ve pulled car trailers and boats around with a 140 many times with zero issues.

When you’re 6’- 6’3” and what, 220-250, you make that tractor seem tiny the way you spin that starter rod and make that tractor wiggle on start, you a big strong man. I want one but makes me worry if I’d fit on ‘er at 6’4” and 280. Sure I’d be ballast but I’d also be wearing that tractor. I’d worry I might snap that starter crank and she’s all I want for my land lol seems like I need to go bigger, mostly so I fit on the thing but also don’t break “ancient” shit.

Youthful memories there. I bought one in 1990 and had it for two or three years till I found an XL 500. It was a pooch, not much power. But I beat the hell out of it, rode it like I stole it. The only thing I remember having to do it was the points once. Great beginner bike I taught a couple women and a couple friends how to ride on it. Ftr don't try to teach them on a 500 thumper. That may be considered a pooch for an expert, but for a beginner it can be a bit much low-end torque
