Thanks for the video. Small learning curve makes it quite easy after the first attempt. Had a gummed up carb on a 6hp Tohatsu, despite draining the bowl over winter. Cleaned the main jet with a steel wire strand, which allowed it to start. But could not idle. As there is no jet to clean, but a circuit, I left it soaking in White Spirit. Morning after resulted in a telltale mucus residue at the bottom of the container. Voilá, runs like new.
I suscribe! Excellent information! I ask and thank you, I hope you can activate SPANISH Subtitles in the configuration of your valuable videos for those of us who are just beginning to learn more about Asian culture (China, Japan, Korea, etc.) 🙏 and we are still learning and it is difficult for us to understand their language. Thank you so much! I hope it's not too much of a hassle. Blessings! and greetings from Peru 🇵🇪 Spanish-speaking community learning to speak their language🌎
Me Suscribo!
This worked perfectly for my problem - engine was revving with the choke on but not when i throttled up. Did a carb clean and worked like a charm. Highly recommend this video.

Looks like the right size outboard... nice motor! I see you set up for freedive spearfishing... I would REALLY appreciate seeing how you get back in the boat... I live on Sea of Cortez, this looks like the perfect dinghy for me.
Can't believe how quiet this engine is! Is it really this quiet or is this video deceptive? I've got a 10' porta bote and I want to go up from my Minn Kota Endura ... definitely considering this 5 HP Tohatsu.
Thanks for the tips bro! I had an old board laying around and I made something very similar. I have a feeling I'm going to love it. Ill be trying it out tomorrow!
You’re a lifesaver! Mercury 6hp 4str 2018 did not want to run anymore. Single injector in the center, brass screw has minute opening, Cleaned it with brake cleaner (not the carburetor). Thanks a lot.
My problem is exactly what you don’t show. These carb are having the shaft of the float very stiff to take out. Contrary to others who just slide freely. I broke one branch holding the shaft once and have to buy another carb... very expensive here in the caraïbes. . And now the same problem... scare to scrap another carb. I can see the float’s jet is stock.
Does that motor have a spark advance that rotates under the flywheel ? I want a 6 hp that I can make the throttle operate with a servo = Fly by wire if you will . Thanks Tim
that is all well and good, but what do you suggest for murky water, where light saturation is like turning on highbeams in fog? I'd like to know as I want to film is several low visibility lakes.
