Went to John Pearl in the 1970s. There is so much waste that could be cut. Additionally, are they considering (the answer is no, you know this) the financial costs to accommodate moving kids, programs, busing, to another school and all the incidentals from this? No. Grossly incompetent. By the way, if you went back, as you should to Elementary, Junior High, High School - you wouldn’t have an enrollment problem. I digress. The problem is your wasteful spending....not a community elementary school.
The $170,000 savings on a 2 million dollar budget is a savings of 0.085%. Are you kidding me!! closing the school during this pandemic is appalling and disrespectful. wait till you see what happens in five years after we have a baby boom from this COVID stay-at-home order. Wait to see what happens when thousands of apartments are built on Island Hills site. We will keep up this fight and we will vote NO.
CCSD is closing John Pearl Elementary to save $$$, adding more kids to classrooms in other schools? What if BOE cuts on their salaries? It’s easier to do. You close JPES and your board member carier is over. Tough decision. Comparing 2007 and 2020 is totally invalid. Who knows. Maybe in 2025 will be 2000 students more.
