Amazing job!! Did you record audio of the speakers? If so, were you wirelessly running that audio into one of your cameras, or did you have the H6 hidden somewhere close to the stage?

so for this particular event I lucked out and there is a production company that is running live cameras that I am able to recieve their audio each day. But if I dont have that access I use my H6 to record the full run of show and then sync the audio and video in post. Cheers

How is the low light? I do wedding videos and the GH6 is a bit rough for the ceremony if they don’t have lights…. I’m contemplating the gh7 with the way better AF, but I’m wondering if I make the jump to the S series with the s5iix for the low light…

Hey ryan, great question. I have been very happy with the S5iix in Low light. I have a few shoots soon that are low light situations that I plan to film with the GH7 and I be posting the results. That being said. While I love micro 4/3 I do love how my S5iix performs in low light.

I started my professional videography journey with the Panasonic Lumix GH5, I purchased it brand new pretty close to the launch window. I remember having to deal with the V-Log L upgrades that now come standard and is still kind of frustrating to think about. During the entire time that I've owned this camera, I only had to send it out for service once and that was way back in July of 2017 and ever since then it's been chugging right along... It's quite literally "old reliable". I have had my Canon C70 out for service so many times now, that it's not even funny and I pick up my GH5 when my main camera is gone and use it as a b-camera. While it is a very reliable platform, It is however starting to show it's age. It's missing a lot of modern auto-focus features that I need to do my job better, but as solid back-up, the GH5 is amazing! The GH5 was a camera way a head of its time and I will never sell this camera as to always remind me what I started with!

@LowellProductions Месяц назад
I was using a rather cheap battery. But if im being honest I think it was 100% my fault as I have to many things powered on and should have had the camera completely off before I started connecting power. I was goofing around with to many cables at once and pulling them in and out. As long as your not goofing around like I was I think you will be 100% okay. It literally was me being and idiot, but if you have the option to do usb power I think that will decrease the chance of a surge. Cheers

@GollesFpv
@GollesFpv Месяц назад
I dont think its a better camera than s5iix. Almost same price, glass can be cheaper. but the nice glass for mft is also very expensive Yes 32 bit float if you pay quite a lot extra and yes arri colors, but i dont think consumers will benefit hugely from those
@itwasme2435
@itwasme2435 Месяц назад
So, buy an Arri/Red and shoot with it =) I think Trey trully love those feature on those GH, when you are on the same material/brand long time, you know them very well. They arent the best but you know them. (Same whith Premiere pro, davinci is obviously better AND cheaper but 80% of all people/team/prod wont change because of their process and routine) i dont know if you understand what i trying to say, i’m not english speaker =)
@LowellProductions
@LowellProductions Месяц назад
So your points are valid, but there is truly something that I love about the GH series cameras and their look and feel. Personally unless you have owned one I think its hard to explain why I have been in love with these cameras. I may be basis as my personal video journey for my company has been with lumix cameras (I have used sony, canon and red in the past as well for other productions) but all in all lumix hasn't failed me and the image and quality I have gotten from these cameras has far exceeded my expectations and honestly I barely have taken advantage of the cameras full potential. All that being said AF is not the maker or breaker for me. Also 90% of cine glass has not AF.

@@itwasme2435 As another not english speaker I can say, that your english is very good)) I agree, got the same thing with fujifilm, but gh series is too expressive when compared to 2024 market, yes, gh5 was a banger, but today there are many cameras for the price that provide excellent image quality, have wide angle fast glass, and don’t require speedboosters for comfortable use….you’re buying prosumer camera and still need a third party things to use it normally

Man this camera is absolutely gorgeous and it will be relevant for a long time! I just got my GH7 last week and I'm running a lot of test on RU-vid and comparing it to the GH5 in the meantime. Absolutely a fantastic camera! I only use native lenses for M43 also from Sigma ( they have 3 M43 lenses at 1.4 that I think every M43 shooter should have) and the autofocus works great! I've never seen something like that. So for me the GH7 is a big game changer and I don't regret that I bought it 😍

@juliancroot
@juliancroot Месяц назад
Hi Trey. Good to see you sticking at it, still surprised how underrated your RU-vid content is. Regarding AF with Canon EF lenses on Lumix cameras, I've seen that the full frame options (S5iix) work like a native lense when you use the Sigma adapter It's really surprising the GH7 doesn't perform similarly now it has the phase detection. I'm all in on Canon now, but if i was still on Lumix, I'd be on all S series camerasv with the sigma adapter just for the autofocus.
@Wildridefilms
@Wildridefilms Месяц назад
Sigma made lenses for both EF and L mount, so they know their way around the AF algorithms of both systems. But these 3rd party EF-MFT adapters and speed boosters are trying to reverse engineer the algorithms so they're not great.

@LowellProductions
@LowellProductions Месяц назад
So you are still going to get great results if you use the sigma, its hard to explain the I find the AF is great with the adapter but the native glass is slightly quicker and I do find the native lenses stabilization is better as well then the adapter but you can also up the IBIS settings and video boost and get more stabilization if needed. Hope that helps you out. Cheers

Hey quick question. I'm about to get the S5IIX (Currently have a Sony A7IV). I know the 6k modes are 10-bit color but it's 4.2.0 ten bit. Does that affect color grading in any way compared to 4.2.2? I'm n ot exactly knowledgeable on that part. Thanks.

I have never found the colorgrading to be an issue but if im being honest most of my clients are looking for a REC709 style look. But as long as you are shooting LOG and getting the exposure and most likely shooting Native ISO you should be good to go with color grading. Pinning your comment to see if others will weigh in.
