So personally, I find it easier to ready if you have headings clearly signposting the information you're giving. You would want to avoid points since it's less conversational and more mechanical looking if you get what I mean.
Thank you so much Dr Sachdev for hitting on all the important questions and scenarios which can be discussed in a NHS interview. Kind regards, Dr Nitin Agarwal
Hi could i please know what are some hands on skills required as part of ur jon as fy2 (like venupuncture, cannulation, lumbar puncture, intubation etc)
So as an FY2, you would be expected to have these clinical skills signed off - 1. Cannulation 2. Venepuncture (Blood collection) 3. Arterial Blood Gas 4. Blood Culture Collection from peripheral sites 5. Urethral catheterisation for males and females (in practice, normally done by the nurses but still needs to be signed off to do it as doctors) +/- Using airway adjuncts/putting in NG tubes / ophthalmoscopy / otoscopy (depending on the job you're applying to) Intubation is done by the anesthetic team. Lumbar punctures are done by senior clinical fellows/medical registrars. You can ofcourse include it in your skills but it's important to understand your limitations and expectations of the grade of job you're applying to. For a higher level role, you would be expected to have more clinical skills signed off. Hope this helps!
For dehydration, maintainance fluid lets say patient is 70kg , so 25ml/kg/day x 70kg = 1750ml/day So are we going to give 1750ml for 24hrs at a rate of 70cc/hr ??? Or Are we going to give 500ml or 1L at 70cc/hr until the patient gets stable ???
Hi, this video was recommended on my youtube feed - it was an excellent presentation, very thorough and concise. I'm an Australian RN and support new, graduate nurses - found it very helpful to understand and review these emergencies, causality and how they may be managed - please pass on my sincere thanks to all involved 🙏🏻 thank you!
Hi, you can give your OET in your final year of medical school or internship/house job/foundation training. It depends on early you would like to move to the UK.
Hi, apologies for that! Due to the limitations of whatsapp, the community has become full. I'll come up with an alternative platform for the group soon.
Thankyou so much for this video. I was so anxious but just from the first minutes this video only I feel kinda relieved and a bit more confident before.... Thankyou
Another Question. I want to do GP training from uk. Yes plab is the pathway, so do i also need to do royal college exam like mrcp to strengthen my CV. What will you recommend?
Thank you Dr Rupali for this amazing and extensive guide. I had a doubt regarding supporting information and I would really appreciate if you can help. So do we need to add the previous employments, experiences and skills, courses etc in the supporting information?
Hi, you don't need to add all of your previous employments and experiences in the supporting information unless it is relevant to the speciality you are applying for For eg. You can mention having A&E experience if applying for A&E or surgical experience if applying for a surgical job but there is no need to mention all of your clinical experience again in the supporting information
you can request for one more attempt and GMC might allow you. Otherwise again PLAB 1 and then PLAB 2 or royal collage exams they might cause you a problem with registration as you so many attempts (i am not 100% though)
My question is, what should my timeline be? Should I go do the plab2 course, stay there for a couple of months and then do the exam one time? I’m confused on how long I should be going to Manchester for
So you can check the person specifications of the speciality you are interested in an start preparing your portfoilio accordingly. However, 3rd year might be a bit too soon since portfolio requirements change every year. Some general things which would always be helpful is research, audit and teaching experience.
Hello, The job application you showed. Did you write it? Or its from job site like tracjob etc? I am abit confused, and also do we have to write it or fill up a form, i am new in this, thats why asking, tia
Thank you so much for your time and guidance. Watched your videos in the early days of my preparation which was a really short period like 5 weeks.. I even contacted you via Instagram and you helped me choose the study material. Finally I got through Thank you dear for this selfless help. I hope you will achieve more and more. 😊😊😊
I don't think it is necessary for you to do a clinical attachment since there are pently of middle grade jobs available with your experience at the moment but you can always get in touch with ophthalmology consultants in the UK to do an attachment to familiarise yourself with the system.
Hi, yes it would be helpful when applying for training but audits done in the UK might be preferred. Teaching experince done internationally counts as well as far as I am aware.
Hey how did u find conferences to present in…is there a particular website u used? Thanks in advance…also, your videos r really insightful, thank you for that
You can find local and national conferences which are done in medical schools in your city. International conferences can be found on facebook - 'International Opportunities for Medical Students' is a good facebook group for international conferneces
I personally quite like plabable as a resource for preparation but you can check newer question banks as well. I have compared the question banks here - www.rupsgotnochill.com/academic/plab-pathway/plab-1
