Love Whitby. That Dracula experience at 00:21 is so cheap and cheesy but also very cheap to go in and full of heart. Lovely town, would definitely go back.
Some of the comments here, you can tell it's no longer a Goth weekend with the attitude some people are just chavs. Probably used to shout abuse at Goth when they were younger.
Hi thanks for watching and we're really busy this weekend thats why I went there on Friday which is the first day of Goth weekend thinking there will be lots of people goths and people in costumes but I think Saturday is the best day to go on Goth weekend.
You missed the actual Goths. Whitby Goth Weekend / Tomorrow's Ghosts Festival happens at the Spa or up at the Brewery. It's a music festival. None of these dress-ups posing around the streets are Goths. What you've covered here is Whitby Halloween Fancy Dress Weekend. Goths do not wear costumes; we look the same every day. These people dress up once or twice a year in order to get photographed and filmed. We avoid going into town during the day as it's completely taken over by the fancy dressers and photographers and is just unbearable nowadays. I would love it if, just once, someone uploaded a video of the actual Goth festival. The Mission headlined at the Spa on Friday night. That's where the Goths were, not posing around the streets in Halloween costumes.
@@benfletcher9659 Yeah, I have noticed that most of the dress-ups seem to be older. Maybe older people have more time and money to spend on elaborate fancy dress costumes?
Traditionally 1997-2007ish there were only about 1000-1200 Goths who went, its too busy now and the locals don't like it. The Goth scene has declined in the last 10-15 years, yet Whitby is busier every year. Somehow I don't think a lot of these people are 'Goths'. Goth is a subculture, a life style. Wearing a costume for one weekend a year is called Cosplay not 'Goth'.
