“He needs to believe that people can change because he needs to believe in his own ability to change.” Believing in others can be hard as shown at the end of season two it can even lead to you forsaking the principles that gave so much good in your life for the cheap thrill but at the end of the day what’s important is making the big decisions your way and being the author of your own life this is stated by mob right before the explosion for those who may have not seen the light at the end of the tunnel a clear W for mob being able to bounce back after all the negative downright damaging emotions he experienced through the fight to win
Logan was worse than his kids. Kendall tried to clean up debt that Logan got the company into. Kendall accidentally killed a waiter. Logan drove at least one employee to suicide. Roman sent him a dick pic. Logan oversaw a scandal that was so much worse than one dick pic. Logan betrayed more people than Shiv ever did. Logan screwed over a chimney sweep and it backfired with dead raccoons and the loss of a super expensive meal.
4:43 Precisely. Most of the audience thinks Logan worked to attain wealth. If that's true why does his brother Ewan have 250 mil to give to Greenpeace?
The company is also evil. It was also obsolete. Whoever inherited Waystar Royco was going to be the one that shuts out the lights on the dead bankrupt company.
2 years later and your rejection of the Kendall-Logan collusion theory has been validated. But yeah, even at the time of airing, it was clear that this was not the case, and the theory was always bad. Logan smiles because he's amused and proud of his son's ballsy and ruthless decision. He wishes Kendall were more like this in general. At the same time he knows that real consequences are unlikely.
I disagree with your thesis. It takes a lot more than you think to maintain power and influence people around you (bully). Most people need to scheme in the background because when they walk into a room, they command zero part of the room
2:49 I think the usage of assets is pretty crazy considering the sheer number of them! After the season ended I ended up looking for them and found out that there's over 200 of them!! (even identified them and made a video pointing each one out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VCXQ_jD15k8.html ) when first watching the OP I remember thinking the collages only had some assets but they're composed of NOTHING but assets, it's impressive to me! It's also interesting how Dimple's face in the 2nd collage gave me an initial feeling that he's being torn apart or something and put an idea in my head that something might happen to him 🥦
6:37 the lyrics of this OP (well tbh all three of them) are SUPER fitting and referential, and in the process of making an AMV using all 3 seasons and the 3rd OP it fit together so perfectly that I was wondering if the lyrics were meant to fit in this season order: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j23INj40yOQ.html
(super late comments bc even tho I watched the episodes every week they aired since 2016 it took me forever to find this channel even after s3 ended, and I've finally watched through the s2 discussions and made it here 🎉 time to watch these too
36:40 I noticed this too! This, the OVA'a intro having him exploit being paid for by buying a shitton of food, and the Reigen recap OVA having him completely obsessed with being a bestseller (and sort of flanderized to be conceited to a point of overly scolding Mob for not writing the recap to be all about Reigen) is kind of frustrating bc of that misconception just like you said! He's really driven to satisfy his customers, 100% agree!
we all just gonna pretend that everyone could NOT hear their fight in that office so if Ken did admit to that "murder" basically everyone would hear it 😭
“I just really wanted to sell her” 🧐 lmao thank you guys for this podcast I’ve been enjoying listening this season!! you’re the best fan podcast out there! i usually listened right after listening to the official pod to counteract kara swisher ❤
Fantastic final episode! Thanks so much for doing this every week, you two and this show will be missed! Savannah, have to agree with you, Kendall is my all time Number One Boy, and he should have gotten everything he wanted, whether what he wanted would have made him happy or not. Jenni, will definitely be around for your Glacier Natl Park video, whenever that gets uploaded, just please don't get eaten by any grizzlies!
I'll miss this podcast, I only found it this season but i'll definitely listen to your season 3 eps when i rewatch it next. Great insights and the love you guys have for the show really shines through. Kendall was always my number one boy, maybe in the beginning i kind of defaulted to him because he seemed to be the main character, but by the end of season 1 I was definitely rooting for him, maybe to win but maybe to just find his humanity and be happy. I agree that not getting the job might be what was necessary for that possibility to really open up and so that's the silver lining I saw in where he ended up. Also Savannah was the only person I've seen notice the possible symbolism of the fence in front of the water, for me it meant he's cut off from the game, he doesn't get to find out if he'd sink or swim, he's just out, but at least he's on dry land. I agree with the points about Roman and Shiv too, Roman is the closest to being at peace with being out and will probably be okay the soonest, while Shiv kind of wins but in a way gets the worst ending because she's still stuck in this power trap but without any actual power.
Thank you both for this podcast, As soon as I found it it was a must listen. I hope you guys start again with another show. Even if I'm not into that show I'd probably watch it so I can hang with my new besties Jenni and Savannah! Baby Boy was Roman! Letting Kendall squeeze his face to death but started fighting back when he turned to Shiv! Loved the big brother energy.
