I'm an artist, urban sketcher, and bestselling author of over a dozen books, including The Drunken Botanist, Wicked Plants, and Girl Waits with Gun. I created this channel to share my love of sketchbooks, travel sketching, and drawing and painting from life. I also share writing inspiration and behind-the-scenes stories about my books.
All this going paperless is a bunch of crap!!! Especially businesses. They want to sound good but they don't really care. They just don't want to deal with the paper. That's when the reason why they want to sound good and say go paperless. But do you ever notice when your phone bill comes in? It's on paper when it's convenient for them. They send paper but they try to sound good saying going paperless
Yes! I did a bunch of tutorials on drawing people, and one of them includes people sitting. You use the exact same idea--draw the joints first. The link is here. This is for subscribers, but keep in mind that a monthly subscription is only six bucks and you get the full archive! amystewart.substack.com/p/art-lesson-29-drawing-people
I see it's been 3 years since you made this video. But I've been writing short western stories and have a series of the McBride's, fictional characters that I made up, it's a family of brothers of 7 boys maw and paw on a farm. The oldest brother is max, he's a gun slinger fastest gun in the territory... Any how, id like to send you a copy.....
Old painted doors.. They are my favourite too. I take pictures of old doors wherever and whenever i travel. The distressed look in myriad colours on old doors.. Can't have enough of them!!!! 😊😊
Amy I LOVE your tree collector book video, well done! Please make videos of all your books, THAT would be a great collection, and of course I’d want the CD, tee hee, you think I’m joking but really, I’m not. And I can’t wait to get your new book!
I love this. Before retirement, I grew and sold Japanese maples. Some people buy Japanese maples as a fashion statement for their landscape. But there were always those special customers that collected Japanese maples. Sometimes hundreds of weird or unusual Japanese maples over the years. Growing them in their suburban backyard, in pots or in the ground or both. They were always my favorite customers. They were so interesting, because the mind of a collector will naturally collect more things than just trees. I miss those collectors intensely since I've retired.
Hi! These are the intro videos for my classes. Links in the text below the video will tell you how to take the class. There are also lots of free demos on the channel, so feel free to look around.
Love your style Amy. I live in Portland and have been painting the same scenes as you have been. Do you teach in Portland? I look for you in the MLC park when I sit there and sketch.
Does anybody know, if Pentel makes a different Sepia? I want to order that exactly Dark Sepia, shown here while painting with the Pentel brush. Do all Pentel brushes come with tihs Sepia xolor, or should I search for a different name, like "Dark" sepia, please ?
Thank you for sharing this with us. I resonate with the value of quick loose thumbnails. It sparks creativity and more importantly gets you out your head! 🙏🏼💕
What about the peach pit , I think that’s the one? Love the book. If there was an apocalypse it’s your book I want, lol. It was my daughter that read and gave me. I kind of knew some of them. I do know that like I said you’re book would be the book in case of the apocalypse. There would be no more medicine anymore so we need plants.
You are so talented Amy! I loved watching you do this, and want to try it. for me it’s difficult to know where to start, even picking the colors. I must be brave and courageous, like you!
Thanks! One of the things I explain in the full video is that I really didn't even think too much about the exact colors. My colors don't look much like the photo. When you're just doing it for the experience, it kind of doesn't matter so much exactly what colors you use.
My mother in law has a old old true life letter when she was a little girl she 86 and on oxyen she wants her letter to put in a book and type out so how can we help her
A friend was visiting and noticed this book on my shelf.. and wondered WHY I had it.. if I was at all interested in.... ??? No I 'm not interested in poisoning anyone, but as an herbalist it's always good to know what one shouldn't use!
I found out about the Kopp sisters from an episode of drunk History and found these books when I searched for more information about them. This series is good! The narrator of these audiobooks further elevates the material.
I've noticed whether it's stunts, first responder/firefighter shows, and how firearms work. Hollywood writers seemed to either do 0 or the bare minimum.
