Americans had their "bluegrass" yes, and that was/is good. to my bushy's ears Ronnie and Luke have the best of voices, a great selection o songs, and with such brilliant accompaniment, none better with Love from Australia
i love Ronny Drew and Luke Kelly too, i am thankful they graced my ears and Thankful to those that made The Dubliners Such a mighty force of goodness, Ciaran Bourke Barney McKenna and John Sheahan (who was never actually a band member) ? and other associates..

Luke was so good ...often saw him in Stephans Green ...only heard him once live in the Great Hall UCD , now the National Concert Hall... he had wonderful projection in his voice . Now Luke is gone but his music carries on... R I P
These lads hit the ground running. They were just as good in the early days as in their prime. It was a shame though that Bobby Lynch left the group quite early.
Most regrettably again is yha Bobby Lynch took his own life So so sad ... what could have been. I wonder had he lived would Luke Kelly have made it so big?? Who knows B. Lynch sang a great version of what Ronnie drew sang 2nd last song!!
there's two different line ups in this footage - classic line-up of Luke Barney John Ciarán and Ronnie but then the last section - the live TV appearance Luke had left the band temporarily and been replaced by Bobby...
The sound mix is a bit rubbish on this recording, but it really does show just how fantastic of a player John Sheahan is. I'd love to ask him for some tips to improve my playing (going from tenor banjo to fiddle is harder than I thought).
