Where to buy this circuit board?
@DanielZepeda

HI, great video, i made the skull, but the servo is very fast, i see you have a very smooth movement, I wonder if you can help me, how can I change the speed of the servo? Thank you!
@jeffhaas9577
@jeffhaas9577 Год назад
It's been years since I've looked at this, but search for examples of how to vary the speed of a servo - search for "arduino servo set speed" to find discussions. You add a delay, so that the commands sent to the servo have a delay in the loop, instead of telling the servo to instantly go to the new position.

That's neat... Kind of a modern twist to a spirit board. How was it made, Neopixels and Arduino? Also What messages did it spell?
@jeffhaas9577
@jeffhaas9577 Год назад
Exactly, Neopixels and Arduino. Finding the right type of Neopixels that looked like traditional holiday bulbs was a challenge that year, but these days it's pretty easy. The board spelled out "Help me...I'm trapped...Run", "Weird Science" and "Welcome to Nightlife". The Academy has events each month called "Nightlife" for adults, you get to talk to the scientists, have a drink, and look around with no kids.

I just noticed the current version of Cura has plugins in the marketplace which allow you to export settings. There's one for CSV and another for HTML. So that makes this video outdated.

excellent.. nice vid man.... can you do the same with different slicers.. like cura and simplify3d ?
@jeffhaas9577
@jeffhaas9577 2 года назад
I don't have plans to do this for anything else. A while back Cura really improved their profiles, so it hasn't been worth it to do this anymore. Also, I've never worked with Simplify 3D. I have an Ender 3, and the default profiles in Cura and SuperSlicer work great for me.

I just now found this. Ya know. Him and that carnival would have been a great character in some end of saturday morning show about a group of kids, i dunno. Dealing with outworldly stuff. And Harry just seems to always know stuff. And the evil forces are always able to get conned at that carnival and end up trapped there and become part of its staff. And can end each episode with Harry doing some trick for the viewers. Give some kind of morale quote to be a good person and don't do evil things. And then walk away behind the curtain.

Wow Jeff... An excellent haunt, I like how the guests were getting "real scared now"... "That's not scary! YES IT IS!!!" LOL I appreciated the Daytime Behind the scenes and the explanation of the large display. BTW: That zombie crawling prop looks familiar and when I think back to Marker Fair 2019 at the NorCal Haunters exhibit, I do remember see that and later meeting and talking with you; and that was the day I joined NorCal haunters! As for my haunts, nothing as elaborate as yours... especially this year where I had to move the whole operation outdoors and scaled back on my props, luck to have a yard display... but so far I have 3 haunt videos on my channel including this year, 2021: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IDwy2YApNkY.html

He uses wiper motors. They work well with speed controllers to change how the animations look.

Awesome Halloween display, I love it! How much did it cost you approx. to implement it?
@jeffhaas9577
@jeffhaas9577 2 года назад
I don't know how much he put into the walls, they're plywood with 2x4 braces. And he reuses them each year, changing the theme every other year. He has a degree in Theater Arts so he approaches this like building a stage set - it looks good from the front! The lighting effects are actually inexpensive...you need an Arduino, a strip of Neopixel LEDs, a couple of power supplies (one for the Arduino, one for the Neopixels), and a few other parts. The Pex tubing is cheap at Home Depot. Look up the Neopixel Uberguide by Adafruit for the basics. Advanced effects like this use the FastLED library.

RIP, Harry Anderson. It really surprised me that he was the first person of the main cast of Night Court to go. Before him, Selma and Florence, the first two female bailiffs passed away after their brief stints on the show. They were covered so well by their replacement that unless you saw those first 3 seasons, you wouldn't have known about that and presumed that Roz was there from the beginning. Truthfully, the Night Court cast wasn't fully in place until Season 4. The court clerk, defense attorney as well as the female bailiff were originally played by different actors. Now, this past year, Harry's been joined by Charles "Mack" Robinson and Markie Post. Those losses were VERY unexpected, too. It's a reminder that age and the grim reaper will catch up with all of us but it's sad to see the people who entertained us pass away so abruptly. The first time I felt this was when Deforest Kelley passed away in 1999. That's when I knew the original era of Star Trek was officially over. When you lose a vital component of the cast, you can't recreate that chemistry even if you recast a part with someone with very good or introduce a new player/character. It's never the same... Night Court was such a quirky show that was well-written for most of its run -- and it's a shame that it's not as well-remembered. I saw it in reruns constantly on A&E after NBC cancelled the show but it seemed to have faded into oblivion by the end of the 1990s.

Basically, all of cura profiles are stored in the %APPDATA%/cura/4.6/quality_changes as text .CFG files. You can just use some windows alternative of linux "diff" utility to check the differences. What I expected from video: if there was a plugin for cura which could show in couple of clicks.
@martybadboy

Thank you for this great video, Jeff. While following these I noticed that Cura has changed the way it denotes the settings in .gcode. I did some tinkering made it work at the end. Here is the post I wrote the steps that worked for me for the benefit of others. medium.com/@hellosimplexdesigns/12-how-to-compare-cura-profiles-bb90c639559b

Hi Jeff, which was the version of Cura that you have used here? I am using 4.6.1 and do not see 'Current Settings Used' in the .gcode file.
@jeffhaas9577
@jeffhaas9577 4 года назад
I used 4.2.1. You have to go to the Ultimaker site, register and download the file in the post that I link to. Then you paste the code into your printer's profile in Cura. I just tested this with 4.6.1, and it still works.
@LathanM
@LathanM 4 года назад
You can also do it directly in Notepad++ with the compare plugin.
@jeffhaas9577
@jeffhaas9577 4 года назад
Right, but a lot of people already have a spreadsheet. Also, since I did this, Cura improved its profiles significantly (at least for the Ender 3, which I have) and I don't bother with this anymore.
@briankgarland
@briankgarland 4 года назад
Nice. But this method is static in that it doesn't pick up new settings when new versions of Cura gets released. Cura really should just have a print or export to file feature built-in.
@jimmyt3934
@jimmyt3934 4 года назад
Useful post. The tool to do the comparison I chose was WinMerge (winmerge.org/?lang=en). I used to use the tool when I was a coder to try to find differences in 1000's of line of code. One additional note on that. It took me a while to figure out how to only show the "different" lines in WinMerge. Apparently the developers thought this was not a useful feature for quite some time. The semi-cryptic (IMHO) solution is View -> Diff Context -> 0 lines. I don't have any affiliation with WinMerge but people should try that as well.
