Evan Smith was very professional, kind and he allowed Hitchens to talk. Evan also asked great questions. I learned more in this specific interview than all of Hitchen’s other interviews put together. One week before a woman called C-Span and declared, "the majority of the people in my town (I live in the same town) are christians. I just don't know why anyone would be against god.", I had counted the people at all the churches and regularly counted about fifteen people attending (Out of 1700 people). They lie because they have to.
I recall working as an education consultation in Muslim Schools in London and although I let them know I had no interest in religion they couldn't stop themselves. I shared an office with the head who of course was a fierce Muslim who never let me alone in an attempt to convert me. I was polite and respectful and simply declared my lack of interest. Eventually I said ok, I do not like any religion but Islam is violent, quoting from the Qur'an, which I know well. The Qur'an itself is a muddle of violence, folk stories from the region, and plagiarism. But Muslims have constructed a certain rationality out of this muddled book and closed their minds to the sleeping with children, harems, and other Arab, essentially Arab, practices. Connecting yourself with a billion people thinking and feeling in the same fashion is powerful, but is it human nature?
Even though I don't agree with his views about war in Iraq (after all Saddam used to be a 'good' puppet for the Americans until he went rogue. Same for mujahedeens that were trained in Bosnia by CIA), I understand his perspective on this. If it was a war against barbarians, yes I could see a meaning there.

The answer is given in the word, someone says: A-Theism = NO-God-belief. - I am thinking of a number, but the number is not 986357, what number am I thinking of? My name is not Nevle Yt, what is my name? I don't live in Jubbizer, where do I live? None of these questions can be answered with even microscopic probable certainty. Nor, what is atheism. Only well-defined pairs of 2 opposites can be answered with, NOT; like this: I am not she = I am he, not night=day etc. What about the word; believe? Originally it means to be quite sure of something, but not absolutely sure, because absolutely sure is called; To Know. So, not believe therefore becomes the opposite; great uncertainty about something, but not completely uncertain, i.e. belief in something opposite. The concept of God is only implied as something higher and more powerful than us, to define or describe it more accurately is impossible. So what does NON-God belief become in this clarification: Great uncertainty but not completely uncertain whether something higher and more powerful than me, but not more precisely defined, exists, in this case God. What the general public believes to be scientific evidence or proof rides the same humanity like a demon. The whole concept of proof has its origins in the mathematical method: An example of a mathematical proof: One can not find a biggest prime number. Proof: Take the product of all prime numbers up to the ´biggest´ and add 1. This new number I call; N. So all the prime numbers we used divides N-1, but not N, because they are all bigger than 1. But a fundamental property of whole numbers is that either a whole number is a prime number of a product of prime numbers. This leaves us with the only conclusion that N is a new prime number or product of new prime numbers. So we have found the exsistence of primenumbers way bigger than those in the set we used and thought contained all and the biggest prime number. - Now how is this method to be transferred to all phenomena in the World or the Universe? So far there is NO possibility to generally use this method in the world, only in special cases, and Kurt Gödel prooved logically in 1931 that there are true statements in any logical system, that can not be prooven. Undecidable questions have even arisen in physics, suggesting that incompleteness afflicts not just math, but in some little understood way, The Reality. About the World and Reality, we must use a method of proof like: We saw such and such happen. In other words, observation or what a lawyer would call witness testimony. And observations do not always give the whole picture, so theories must constantly be adjusted in line with new observations. The answer to whether one believes in or the outlook on life one has can, because the word ´belief´ is fluid, and the term God is only implied as something elevated over us, cannot therefore be answered with: I do not believe in God, I am an Atheist. The question must be clarified like this: I didn't ask what you don't believe, I asked what your outlook on life IS, what IS being an atheist? Someone will then try to rewrite NOT with other words: Rejection of, refutation of, lacking, dismissing, absence of etc... It doesn't help much. What IS atheism? Then I get lectured in that atheism is no beliefsystem, has no message, no philosofy, nothing; just ordinary people that has not got any evidence. But this is just a rewriting of NOT, so I ask: What are you lacking evidence of? "God" they answer. I ask then: What is that, describe that? - no answer - Then the atheist deliver a spectacular devastating selfdestructing blow and say: "God belief is exactly parallell to this: Believer(theist): I believe unicorns exist. - Nonbeliever(atheist): I do not believe unicorns exist." - But unicorns are well defined and described fantasy animals and that gives us opportunity to search for one, and noone has ever found one on Earth. The idea of God is neither well defined and possible to describe in any detail, and this idea does not even belong to the category of ´things´. Now the atheist tries to divert the subject by asking; why he should believe in the Christian god, out of 1000 other hungry gods who have to be fed with newborn children and people, drink blood and torture animals and humans to death? In that case, the Christian God (Christ) is the opposite to all of this, so that could be a good reason for the atheist to become a Christian, but does he want that? "I will NOT believe in any of the 1000 gods because they dont exist", he say. Ok, I understand, but I want you to in detail describe what it is that doesnt exist. The atheist now gets angry and fights for his life, and tries in a last desperat attempt to save himself and say that the burden of proof that God exists is on those who believe in God, so the atheists themselves do not need to explain anything. But Kurt Goedel proved in 1931 that there exist true statements that cannot be proven even in the well defined logical systems of consistent theories. So the burden of proof that they are true cannot possibly be on Kurt Goedel, exactly because he proved that they cannot be proven true, but STILL are TRUE. So the atheist are in urgent neet to explain why they dont think such statements are true, contrary to the Goedel principle. So when atheists reject this prooven principle the burden of dis-proof is on the atheist, so I want to know: I want an answer from an atheist about what atheism IS. Not what they do not believe, are not convinced of, what they reject, what they dismiss etc. I am not satisfied with this definition with negatives; I not their not´s, so 2 not´s cancel, and we are back to what is left: What is left of the atheist when all the NOTs (negatives) have done their job? Science? I also believe in science, but I am not an atheist. No-one of them comes forth with an answer, only: "We dont believe in God", they shout a bit louder, as if that helps. Describe that? I ask. And the atheist cannot answer, and even tells me to ask those who believe in God about it! So the atheist depends on what the believers say to have the slightest idea of what they dont believe in! But the believers cannot define or describe God, noone can. And round and round it goes, . . so I will give my answer: When one does not want to look up to something higher and more powerful than oneself, then it is only oneself and that which is lower than oneself that can be seen. When you think yourself are at the mountaintop, all further movement will lead downward. If you have no higher idea about life and existence, the road only goes downhill for you. And downhill in this context means destruction, breakdown, dissolution, disaster, desperation, aimless flight downwards and downwards to death and unconsciousness. And in time it will spread to everything, both personal, cultural, scientific, artistic, moral - EVERYTHING That is WHAT Atheism is. Don't go that way! One has to earn his way onto death row, I find it sickening just how people like this turn something like this into a sympathetic figure, you have it totally twisted just putting him in that category.
A wild update regarding this man and his case. He is alive and well serving a life sentence instead of being executed. Turns out the judge and prosecutor on his case were having an affair which came out after the fact. His lawyers appealed for a new trial. The appeals court refused to hear the appeal about it being a fair trial. But, the appeals court granted him a new sentencing trial because the jury were not given the proper rules and information when deciding on the punishment. The new prosecutor was going for the death penalty again. He ended up taking a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to both murders and received a life sentence. A life sentence in Texas is 40 years. He's been on death row at the time for over 23 years. Part of the plea agreement that he took meant he will not get credit for those 23 years which would have made him eligible for release soon. Instead the 40 years started from the day he pleaded guilty, therefore, insuring that he'll remain in prison for good. Crazy ass story....wow!
I genuinely and sincerely, from the bottom of my soul, believe Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, God the Son himself. I therefore take his warnings about losing our individual souls very very seriously. Because the simple truth is either that Jesus is exactly who he says he is, namely God himself, or he isn't and Christianity is a lie. If the latter is true then when we die we go into the ground and thats the end of us. BUT if Jesus is truly God the Son, as he claims (My Father and I are one) then the consequences of NOT believing in him are very serious indeed. Jesus said if we do not put our faith in him before we die, we will be separated from him forever in a place Jesus himself called Hell. Just think of the shock at the moment we die when we find out Jesus was indeed God, and the die is cast. There will be no second chances. That is why I send these messages in the hope that they help someone to find the truth. Jesus is the Son of God, believe and be saved.
