We aim to dispel this "macho" or "conservative figure" propaganda and reveal true colors of his regime: murder, intimidation, industrialized kleptocracy and well-funded russian propaganda machines. We were born there, we have lost friends to this murderer and his regime... we see how they "zombify" most, and intimidate, poison and beat down the rest. We try to reveal regime's weak spots and shine the light on atrocities they are committing on a daily basis.

I'm not Ukrainian and I don't know what politics Zelensky is standing for, but one thing I can say is that NO other person than Zelensky would have been able to get the attention and support for Ukraine from USA and Europe, no one, full stop and I hope that the Ukrainian people will understand that! Arestovich makes an interesting point about simple Ukrainians defending Ukraine, while Russian civilians are running away. But that applies to Sumy, Kyiv, etc. In Donbas and Crimea, Ukrainians did not resist the Russian invasion, instead yhey cheered and joined the Russians. Is that the proof that those regions were not Ukraine to begin with?
I think Crimea was a mix of shock, pressure from the Obama's white house to not escalate, and Ukraine own govt choosing not to actively resist... However, the whole war in Donbass was fought to a large degree by volunteer detachments on the Ukrainian side vs FSB funded and trained special groups.

Regarding the content of your reply, I would agree, but that was not the point. Arestovich was commenting on the spontaneous reaction of Ukrainian civilians, not the coordinated political response.

ИПСО, что Украина «домбила бамбас» на столько отлично работало, что люди верили, что их бомбят свои. Верили прямо с 2014 года. The wests fear of Nukes is irrational. If they allow putin any gain from his strategy then putin or the next demagogue of russia will continue with the same strategy as they march across the whole of Europe. What they don't seem to realise is that allowing this strategy to work once will increase the likelihood of nukes being used in the future not decrease it. There is no short term or long term political/diplomatic maneuvering which will talk russia out of this position especially if it brings success. The bluff has to be called NOW without fear, just as the courageous Ukrainian warriors are doing. Hoping for some rationality to appear in russia by the whimsical notion of not escalating matters shows a complete lack of understanding of putin. If there is to be escalation it will be when putin chooses, for him the wests thoughts are irrelevant. Hopefully the recent actions of Ukraine will knock some sense into the western democracies.

Amazing piece. The elevation of the shadow through the Katharsis is not only needed for Ukraine. We all players in the global landscape are wandering like a blind Tiresias through the wasteland. Seeking momentary comfort in the inmediate pleasure or the cling for power. Only in Ukraine this situation is manifested to the limit by the imminent danger of war: self-destruction or elevation. In this conflict, not only Ukraine's soul and shadow, but everyone's soul and shadow are at stake. Only sadly it is fought with your flesh and blood. For the good of all, I hope that together we will push hard enough to bring the light down, each of us from our daily actions, no matter how small they may seem.
I kind of got tired of that too. I even I even stopped watching the channel. It was hard to see. And then I watch this video and I understand. When an inner conflict sets in, becomes stagnant and you face self destruction you have to face the dark with every bit of your strenght. Daily. No matter the aparent cost because... well, the alternative is disappearance . Face it, name it once and again until a moment of purifying consciousness arrives. About response of civil society, sure, Ukrainians resisted at the start, when Russians were rolling around on highways confused, but when shit got real, they all fled if they could. You can't hide the fact that Russians are still volunteering to go to Ukraine, while Ukrainians nned to be forced into the military. Time will tell if Arestovich is right about this or if it's just another memoreble but largely inconsequential moment in a long war.
