Sorry but amanda is so far stuck up her own backside and well as a former employee of the pleasure beach i enjoyed working there but she needs to go or in reality learn how to be more professional on twitter as i saw her post the one you mentioned here and thought just pipe down love you want to make yourself look good amanda should just go back to working with the shows because there used to be great shows there and now well yeah not so much and let someone else handle the running of the park like maybe put nick incharge but honestly not sure if he has much to do with the park anymore, iceblast or playstation as i will call it as i have always known it needs to go bye bye, but when wild mouse went wasnt happy about that as its classic but i wouldnt of gotten rid but also was HSE perhaps flagging that about that due to saftey on that who knows the reason behind that as it wasnt publicly released i dont think the park should either go back to free addmission for walkins or like you say bring back the none rider pass at a reasonable price. did have the pleasure of meeting amanda once or twice during my time working there and yeah honestly i wont make my real opinion known but yeah its not great i say keep big dipper and the grand national, valhalla refurb cant comment on because not been back to the pleasure beach since that happened icon is my sticking point with the spinning part and the extra charge for that urgh just NO but one final thing is that in all honesty all management care about is that as long as the park is making money they dont really care what the public thinks and sadly the thing that actually lets BPB down and i have always said this is they dont have the space to add more rides hence why they have to lose iconic ones like when infusion came along they removed the log flume now the grand prix but before that there were others but yet they still want to cram so much in to such a small space that they can never expand the reason for the not so many late night riding or later opening times local hotels and guest houses and houses surrounding the site complained that the noise levels were too much from the rides and then there was decible tests done and then the council ended up saying something to bpb
That makes a lot of sense, shame about the late night riding 😔 the small footprint of the park is a blessing and a curse. I love how compact it is and that I don’t have to walk for miles between rides (Towers 🙄) but as you say it does mean things need to go to make space. I guess it just depends WHAT goes.
I'm 45, I been going to Blackpool since before I can remember, every summer at least and often for a night or day trip through the year. "When I was a kid", it was completely open. You could just walk in, walk around and many people would spend their entire day there. It gave the place a "buzz" people everywhere happy and just looking around, buying ice-cream, rock, candyfloss, hotdogs, visiting the little shops, arcades, cafes and bars. Then they introduced the books of tickets. It wasn't too bad, but it meant you was limited to 2 or so big rides, hadfull of old but good ones and limitless rides nobody uses. This then put a time limit on it. You would visit the big one, pepsi max and a few others along the route and leave as what's the point as you couldn't even pay for a single ride again. Then the big bad thing happened. I taken my GF there to show her the delights. It was blocked off, as you stated you can't even go in the park without spending a week's rent. But I caved and paid as I dragged her there. I can only describe it as walking into an amazing nightclub... But it's Monday night. It looked the part, but without atmosphere it's like watching friends without the laughing track. Stopping people just spending the day there ruined that park. My solution, open it back up fully. Use the phone app as a PAYG. Maybe a deal for a bundle of rides, maybe extra to jump the none existent Ques like Disney. I love that park, but right now it's like seeing your gran on her death bed. Many of those rides was outdated even when I was a kid. It's time to get back to youth and a family friendly cheap day out.... That milks you with £10 trays of chips etc etc. Oh, and will someone change the Blackpool lights. Vira Ogden hasn't been on Coronation St for 30 years! People need a reason to be in Blackpool to get the foot fall
The non-rider pass was so good for me and my family as my parents have never been fond of rides so me and my sister would just go on together. Last time we went as a full family was when I was eight and my sister was five and it wasn't as run down then. Me and my sister went two weeks ago for a end of year school trip and I couldn't believe how run down it felt. I rid the Grand national and it was so much more uncomfortable than I remembered
I used to love just going in and wandering around the park, and if I saw something I wanted to go on we'd buy a book of tickets, as well as food, arcades, merch etc.
I live just over an hour from Blackpool. On 2nd August 2022 my mate from Essex came to visit and we decided to visit Blackpool for the day. I hadn't been in a few decades and this was my mates first visit. When we got there, it was absolutely dead. No-one on the beach and the Tower and Pleasure Beach both closed! We both agreed it was a dump, so carried on to the Lake District instead. I've got photos of my mate on an empty beach with the Tower in the background.
I had a great time here, it's always been run down but you can go on great rides with minimal queues, infusion was no queue at all and went on about 8 times, Icon great coaster with 20 mins wait, big one was only 5 min wait. Valhalla is amazing and left it until the end as it's very wet. Didn't manage all the rides even with quick queue times. Great Value but as always could be excellent with some investment.
The quiet days are a mixed bag. As you say great as a visitor cause you get tonnes done but it’s worrying if they’re not pulling in the money can they invest?
The management are the issue. They're up their own arses. You're spot on about the ticketing issue, if you're a "resort" then let people walk around, play on the fairground games or buy individual ride tickets.
Whoever came up with the idea of using Hall Of The Mountain King (The Wombles recorded a fabulous version in 1974 on their concept album 'Keep On Wombling') as basically Alton Towers' theme tune deserves a pat on the back and then some. Can you imagine AT now without that Edvard Greig tune? No, nor can I.
it does look like the bean counters are going to take this out of existance like they do with the vast maority of things. last time I went to Blackpool Pleasure beach you could enter at will, pay cash for a ride or buy a sheet of tickets. even back then it was a bit pricey, and as prices skyrocketed I stopped going. yes I still go to blackpool, I just don't go to the pleasure beach. these days, the vast majority of people who go to Blackpool, go nowhere near the pleasure beach.
@@coaster_dad one thing people are looking for is value for money, when it's cheaper for a family to have a week / weekend away in another country then a trip to BP PB, it's not really going to get people flocking there.
Im 47 now and not been on since you had to pay... simple... Im not the biggest fan of rides, also dont go to Alton towers etc... But I would walk around and spend money on burgers etc
Yeah a lot of people saying the same. I doubt they’ll bring back free entry but up until Covid they had a cheaper non rider ticket. Why they didn’t bring that back is beyond me.
Iceblast was originally sponsored by sony and was called "the playstation" it also inspired the yo-yo trick of the same name back in the 90s. Fuck i feel old now
@@coaster_dad fair, in regards to your how can they turn things around they need to bring back the non rider ticket because I can't ride anything there any more (height) so I havent taken my kid there, though with mention of your (let's go do x because it's there) point, it's competing with all the shows and the sandcastle down the road
