Attended Jonathan Lee's concert at Taipei back in 2021. It was a memorable moment for me when he sang this song. At one point he lightly choked up during the song and proceeded to quickly wiping off his tears during the short instrumental after the line「他等過你 已來不及」. All the memories of his father must've came back to him when he sang this song that night, especially when he was performing in his own hometown on the first day of this concert; making it even more personal and emotional...
Faye Wong is a Canto Diva ! She is one of the best vocalists, her songs are always so dang difficult to sing. Her edgy styling is another reason why she is so famous and the globe that she has her own music category in music called "Faye Wong"
Thank you for reviewing this song! Though I like the studio-recorded version better, it's definitely one of my favourite songs of Faye Wong. I thought the best part and trademark of this song is the extremely well written lyrics. Albert Leung (the lyricist) put in so much emphasis in the description of the scene, to the tiniest details like... how each of the little objects reminded her of the day they dated/met, from the door sign of the hotel, the streetlight, the city, really felt like watching a movie just by reading the lyrics; and how it progressed into the longevity of their relationship, very emotional and expressive. Such strong connection between the lovers.
Lyricists of Cantonese pop songs are often excellent storytellers. Each song is like a highly condensed movie, and the lyricists' superb skills can present a movie scene to you with just a word or two
