This man Don McKinnon is a complete cretin and traitor. One of four shit brothers, the son of a NZ Army General. Don served as the mediocre and loyal deputy to the NZ far left PM Robert Muldoon a former NZ Army intelligence Lance corporal who refused a commission on the grounds of solidarity with the bro.In 1984 Don failed in his duty on the night Rob called a snap election. He should have offered RD Muldoon, one more for the road and rather than letting the PM's limousines tyres down let Muldoon drive off and wipe himself out on the railings on the Hutt Road. Don McKinnon, once encountered me a I strolled thru Plimmerton hill suburb, rather than introduce himself, Don just starred. Like his least distinguished brother a former Secretary of NZ Ministry of Defence, a man very responsible for NZ Dev of defence relations and naval exercises with China, he apparently believes I am some sort of Russian bot and during my time in Wellington years, never bothered to walk 50 yards from the Freyburg MOD building to my screen in the National library and introduce himself. Really of course only intelligent NZ politicians like Peters and Mark could manage that. Of course there is only one RFFMiles located on the high floors of an Auckland CBD hotel and the screens, mobiles and phones in the room are all those of the same Mr Miles. The only people claiming otherwise are someone in the GCSB, NZ Police or National party idiocy and the ludicrous claims are sourced in the views of handful of obsessed rural idiots in South Canterbury and Timaru, who in some cases hated or feared my father a TBHS teacher in 1955-77, a slack English teacher who they feared they would fail SC English with ( in fact SC English was largely an IQ test in the 1970s in terms of who passed or failed, so the teacher was almost irrelevant. It is true that teacher quality might raise some people's mark from say 70-80 and that a fanatical drill master like say the noted, alleged fagot Duff the Thomas House manager and band leader or Juliet Gearing with her husband the least appropriate teachers at what at the time was a top HQ conference school with a 1971 IQ average, equal to Eton College, 7 th in the Commonwealth could raise a dumbsters mark from 30 to 40, but my parents who were extremely able high I people though such drilling completely below them and a boring waste of time.

Thank you for highlighting this. I live in Selwyn and know of 170 hectares that was consented for quarrying - LUC 2 & 3 Land. (2020)This is subject to appeal at the Environment court, but the appellant does not have an expert to raise these real concerns of taking such valuable land out of production. Sadly at consent hearings the applicant comes armed with a whole group of experts, and their 'independent' expert input is accepted. I hope the Judge sees pass that. I attended a hearing 2 days ago (again Selwyn) where I tried to argue that LUC 2 land should not be taken out of production for an industrial private requested zone change. Non LULC 1 - 3 land started just 3km away. This is what you are up against. If there is no person able to submit against and oppose these consents, they will continue to hold sway. Wish the guy luck who is trying to fight the might of Fulton Hogan and get the consent overturned thus protecting that 170 hectares for future use. The rehabilitated land cannot be productive again. We have evidence of that in Yaldhurst (LUC 2 land that was quarried is no a crater of rocks - soil just washed through). It will set precedence if it remains consented. Quarry industry wants access to that land to keep costs down. They have been pretty blatant about it. Yet they can use non HPL land no worries.

1) By reflecting away 30% of ISR the albedo, which would not exist w/o the atmosphere/GHGs, makes the earth cooler than it would be without that atmosphere like that reflective panel set behind the windshield. Remove the atmosphere/GHGs and the earth would become much like the Moon and Mercury, a barren rock with a 0.1 albedo, 20% more kJ/h, hot^3 on the lit side, cold^3 on the dark. Enjoyed this insight into what’s happening in the South Island High Country farms. It’s unbelievable how slow Govt Agricultural Depts actually move, & everything has to turn out in favour of them. I know the farming Families aren’t quitters, but surely they have thought about it, & go off the Land for an easier less stressful Life. I wish all the farming Families involved, all the best in their futures.

Sorry but the carbon and environmental footprint of growing those products overseas then transporting them here won't add up in the mind of consumers overseas when added to the footprint of exporting. This just fuel for the extremely well-funded and publicized vegan missionaries. Let alone the health benefit claims of GMO soybeans, palm kernel, and ryegrass mono-crops. Disappointing.

Interestingly, Marc Bonfils reported yields as high as 15 tonnes per hectare (actually, 150 quintals per hectare - same thing), with very minimal inputs, using his winter wheat plan. His methods aren't conducive to broadacre mechanical cultivation, but can be done manually on small plots of a size suitable for families or even small community size populations if efforts and labor schedules can be properly coordinated. His method is generally as follows: Into an established cover crop of white clover, sparsely sow wheat on or slightly before the summer solstice. "Sparsely" means on a 0.6-0.8 meter grid. Banatka is the variety commonly used, but there may be other old long straw landraces which are suitable. The shortening day length after the solstice will only allow vegetative growth, but no tillering will take place. However, extensive and deep roots will form (2-3 meters depth has been reported: if a plow pan exists which would prevent such deep penetration, I suspect it might be necessary to rip the plot to permit some initial penetration of the pan). The wheat overwinters. In the spring, the extensive root mass contributes to vigorous growth and early maturity. Production is anecdotally usually in the thousands-fold range, with large seed heads, multiple seed heads per tiller and in the range of 30-50 tillers per plant under good conditions. Tillers are usually quite robust (as thick as a wooden pencil - say, 5-6mm) and resistant to lodging. The following season's seed is interplanted at the appropriate time. The straw is used as mulch if it isn't needed for another purpose (thatch, cordage, baskets, etc.). Top seeding of the white clover may be needed, depending on the severity of winters and the amount of snow cover. No rotation is done, but a deep soil profile is quickly built by the successive generations of wheat roots. Yields are reputed to improve over the first few years as the organic matter in the soil increases. Since the soil is never open, erosional losses will be minimal. Shattered grain is usually cleaned up by running poultry through the field after the harvest, to prevent volunteers crowding the planted crop which would lead to decreased yield. Manual "weeding" after germination would be possible for small plots. Harvesting is usually done with a sickle or scythe, field dried in "stooks" or under cover, followed by hand or drum threshing of the wheat from the stalks. I have a notion that a stripper/gatherer at the right moisture content could possibly be adapted to minimize the amount of straw being threshed. A slightly more mechanized version might give the Bonfils method broader appeal. However, I haven't yet tried the Bonfils method myself, though I intend to do so this year. Perhaps by next fall I'll have some results to report for wheat. I'd be curious to try Sangaste rye, as well, since it is reportedly well suited to fall sowing. If you are at all interested in the Bonfils approach, I recommend searching on Google for more information, and straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak - Bonfils died under mysterious circumstances in 2011 or 2012). Most available information is in French, though a bit can be found in English, as well. My schoolboy French is sufficient to comprehend the basics, but a native speaker would do better, I'm sure. There are a couple of videos on YT in French and Italian showing results.
