Something I’ve noticed about the strip is how the use of Spitsy got progressively worse over time. He started out as a hilarious gag that this would be the closest thing Nate would get to owning a dog, but modern strips give him very unrealistic intelligence which comes off as strange in an otherwise realistic and relatable strip
