Am I right in saying that there is no difference between the SL5 or SL6 as far as the frame is concerned, the difference is the components on each bike?
Hi Greg, thanks for the video. Do you have any favorite places to ride in the Bay Area? I haven't had my hitch or rack installed and I've only had the bike for a couple months. I haven't ventured outside San Jose yet but look forward to soon!
I put it one dollar per mile. When I have 5,000 miles on a $5,000 bike I figure it’s paid for itself in benefit. I have a 6,000 mile a year goal and a living room full of bicycles. They don’t owe me a thing.
ought my sl7 sane way.. 3 states away lmao.. im in new york the bike was in maryland.. drove down on the weekend with my teo kids made a road teip out of it
I bought the sl5 emonda trek just recently. Cost me 3,000 euros, not cheap, it must be a mid range race bike surely despite the entry level trek carbon bike. The wheels are a bit heavy and i cant afford to upgrade as just bought the bike, but the wheels are still getting me my best times on tough strava segments, so the bike is clearly fast
Nice!! That’s how I bought my Trek Supercaliber during the pandemic here in Miami. Last week I ordered an Emonda SL6 AXS and it comes with AEOLUS 35 wheels, what wheels did you installed? I ordered Aeolus 51 for mine Thanks
Hello budy, how are you? I'm 1.77, do you know what my size would be on a bike like this? I ask because on the TREK website it says 56, the store I'm looking at said it would have to be 52, they even make bike fit there. I have a Scott spedster 20 disc in size 52 and it's a good bike for me. I'm not sure about this, if you can help me. I'm between 52 and 54.
Good review. Thank you! With an improved seat position (slightly aft) you will notice that you can easily lean forward and maybe even will need a longer or at least lower stem. Also, trek sells the sl5 with a small offset seatpost that also makes it more challenging for people to find the right position.
It chose the black cuz I thought the orange was pretty but it also attracts people who like to mess with things. Sometimes bling attracts the criminal element.
Just put mine together there was some confusion when I initially looked at it. The long bolts are "through bolts" if that means anything to people means those bolts go all the way through a one end and you just use the Allen to tighten it at the other end. It would be easier if you had somebody to hold up the arms when you go to tighten it but I got it done myself. I had Alan sockets and a cordless drill made the work much easier.
It depends on your purchasing power too. For some 5k is not much, whether it's on a bike or something else; for others it's simply unrealistic to spend that much money on a hobby. It depends on the rest of your finances, debts, whether you have other expensive hobbies, spend on food/traveling, pay a pricey tuition for the kids, have a big mortgage etc. Usually when your family gross income is in the 7 figures it matters a lot less.
Thanks for this! Very close to buying three 2022 emonda sl5, but found that here in the U.K. there is a Polish brand carbon bike, Rondo HVRT CF2 at the same price point with very similar specs with a variable geometry. Which one do you think would be the better option this time of year? Thanks!
Beautiful bike..prettiest I've ever seen actually... Why the emonda versus the domane ??? I'm trying to educate myself I looked at a SL 6 DOMANE last week with the " e tap " I love the idea of " e tap " shifting Looking forward to your input...... beautiful bike.... are the color schemes specific to each model ???
Has anyone changed out the tires on the Emonda from 28m to 25mm? Was there any affect on speed or comfort? Or was it hardly noticeable on just a 3mm tire change?
Great review. But I am confused: Why is this called a lightweight carbon bike and as some people say a climbing bike-- when it's weight at over 20lbs? Isn't that pretty heavy for a lightweight climbing bike especially considering the endurance oriented SL5 weighs within a pound of this? I guess what Trek is trying to say is the stiffness and responsiveness and aggressive position even at over 20lbs makes this a climbing bike. From my point of view the Emonda is the perfect mix between a pure racing bike and a pure endurance bike but for marking purposes that doesn't sound as good as saying a lightweight carbon bike. Btw, remember before it became silicon valley, the area was all orchards. So yes there will be a lot of great riding areas still in silicon valley.
Assembly is NOT easy!!! This product may be good, but as is typical with most products these days, the assembly instructions and diagrams are too vague, resulting in a lot of guesswork. It took me three hours to figure it out.
I am getting mine in 2 weeks. First road bike that I will own. I wanted to buy either an sl6 pro or a madonne sl6, but trek told me id need to wait for 9-12 months until delivery, but lucky me they had an emonda sl5 on my size. Initially I thought it wasn’t a good bike but after watching tons of reviews im convinced its a good choice. I just need to upgrade the wheels at some point. Thanks for your video!
