Thanks for your question. In checking I discovered that the episode on RU-vid was set to private, not public. No idea how that happened? Here’s a link to that video and I show what I used. Hangkai 3.6 hp Gear Lubricant Change ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T-L5odWduuk.html Note: At some point I noticed a fill line inside the housing. Just be sure not to overfill. There needs to be air space inside to allow for heat expansion. Otherwise you will get water vapor sucked in when it cools. If you don’t want to watch the video, I ended up using SAE 90 GEAR OIL. Available in most sporting goods areas like Walmart. Or Amazon a.co/d/0frOGGU If you decide not to watch the video, consider contributing to my channel by clicking the “Thanks” button below and right of my videos. Even $2 brightens up my day 😂. Not required, just letting you know it’s out there 👍👍
Sorry, I don't have the exact measurement on those. You can get an idea by watching the video. I did make one end shorter then the other so I could swing them inward for storage. I no longer have the unit. At 72, I decided to be land locked and sold the entire system. Thanks for watching, sorry I couldn't give you the specifics you requested.
Yes, the exhaust is under water. I’m guessing to reduce the noise. There should be some cooling water squirting out from that rectangular plastic piece a little above the water line.
@BoilerDan1 I didn't see it coming out of that I checked as I opened the throttle a and got the propeller to spin but maybe I didn't do it long enough I even too the plastic piece off just in case the rubber was blocking the holes but it wasn't so idk I may need a bigger bucket or take the propeller off because all my water went out when I reved it up lol
@Bluedevil710 actually it’s better to do the break in out on the water, not the bucket! I only used the bucket because it was winter 🥶. You’ll only get the water coming out when the propeller is spinning.
@Bluedevil710 fortunately I never got stuck anywhere…. But I always went upstream 😂👍. It can be a fun experience if you can keep up with it 👍👍. Thanks for watching.
You saved the day! I was that person at the end of your video trying desperately to fold that chair with a few explatives! We carried the chair back open! Now I understand and today will be much more relaxing at the end of the beach day!😍
Happy to have you in the family. You can reward my efforts by clicking the “Thanks” button below and right of the video. By no means required and only for someone who can and is willing. Even a tiny amount brightens my day….. although your story already did that!👍😂👍
Do you have a video of you mixing the gas and oil ratios? I just want to do it right i got the smaller plastic can like the one that you got that broke. Theres no lines on my bottle
I’d suggest you order this product from Amazon: a.co/d/ctOdSsT Or you can go to any big box store and they have them. The one from Amazon is less than $9. It has a side tube that marks where you fill the oil so you get the exact amount of both. The breaking in mixture is 25-1. After breaking it in its 50-1 ratio. The bottle from Amazon has those markings. I no longer have the boat and motor. Sorry. You can also buy the fuel already mixed at many places (Walmart, Menards).
@@BoilerDan1 I'm glad that my videos are able to help you a bit, I do find with that kit, the picture instructions are decent, but there are some things that are very unclear, and the written instructions for that kit are lacking severely, they need to put way more written instructions with that kit, they are way too vague on what to do and where, I think with some tweaking of the instructions both the written and pictures, that kit would be a really awesome kit to build even for a beginner. Even though they call it the flying Dutchman and it has no resemblance to the movie flying Dutchman ship, and just a heads up you may want to figure out what you're going to do as far as a ship's wheel, because that kit has nothing whatsoever for helm or ship's wheel.
@@BluestreekCustoms I had realized that regarding the ships wheel and have in the back of my mind to make one on my laser cutter / engraver out of black walnut. Then file it to the rounded shape on the handles! Thanks for the heads up, and leading the way on this one!
Very nice on using the laser cutter! Next you will have to get a resin 3d printer to add more things 😂. I've been having to delay my build due to various issues with life and such. Wish I was retired so I could work on things more! Still follow your builds as I have time. Great work as usual!
I’ve had a lot of fun with the laser… but as you can see, it can put off a lot of smoke! It depends on how deep the laser is cutting. Etchings don’t create smoke and an auxiliary air pump is a must along with air filtration. Above the unit I have a dust collection fan/filter that also blows it out of the garage. I’ve made a couple of Skiff boats from scratch too using it to cut the parts. Some etching on glass that shows some promise. I made a mistake buying filament string type 3d printer as it won’t do miniature things…. Yours is the better option. Wish you well and a good retirement someday!😎
Yes. Here’s what the manufacturer says: HANGKAI two-stroke outboards fuel used for lead-free number from 90 to 93 two-stroke gasoline and gas oil (TC-W3) mixed oil. The new machine in the running and fuel oil during the volume ratio of 25: 1 (ie, the oil content of 4% gasoline); After the run-in fuel and oil volume ratio of 50: 1
@BoilerDan1 so would it still be cj8 ng or is ng different numbers. Sorry I jist ordered mine it'll be here on the 6th iv what's all of your videos on it just wondering if ng crossed over with same numbers as well 😀 ty
@Bluedevil710 it’s a different number. At the very beginning of this video (see linked video) I actually give the cross reference number. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JUaHjwJSglw.htmlsi=xQeNGXlAcg3O2jNS Also, when you break in the motor, just run it on your boat. The bucket I used isn’t the best way. Just vary your speed from time to time. Enjoy your adventure!
The motor is somewhat cooled by water. But it’s a very simplistic plastic wheel down near the propeller. It does push through some water and I suspect it’s air cooled also. I do think in very hot weather it does seem to get very warm. So I’m not sure how well it would work in a very hot climate zone.
My preferred method is the last one. Using my foot on the back leg of the chair. I should have shown that first as some stop watching before seeing that. Anyway, I’m glad to help and appreciate your taking the time to comment. You can also financially support my efforts by clicking the Thanks tab below and right of the video. Not required but always appreciated even just $2 brightens my day. 😁👍
Here’s a link that has similar carb. Might correct your issue with bogging down when you accelerate? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dv_P1Zz7dR0.htmlsi=m1jAKsbpELFLJn8W
of course I will send you some money. no problem. Now I have a new problem. The engine does not draw water, and also when I accelerate the engine stops.
Hmmm; I’m no expert but I’ll give you some possibilities. No water: Two possibilities 1. The tube is blocked 2. The impeller wheel is broken. The cooling system is very simple. Down near the propeller there’s a plastic impeller that spins with the drive shaft going to the propeller. If the propeller spins, it pumps water unless the plastic fins have snapped off. I’m guessing that there’s a clogging in the tube or something like that. The cutting out when full throttle is probably an adjustment to the carburetor needs done. Look up small engine carburetor adjustment on RU-vid as the process is pretty much the same for most small engines. You might just change the carburetor? You could also experience that if you’re running it with too much oil mixture in the gas. I’m going out of town today and will try to get you some more information when I get back home tomorrow. Hope you can get it going as I’m sure you’re a little frustrated!😩
Here’s a link to the manufacturer in China. 1. On top right of the page confirm that English is selected. 2. On the upper left you’ll see 3 horizontal lines. Click that and select “News” 3. There are several options there of interest including troubleshooting. Should be confirmation of the proper oil to gas ratio too. Hope all of this helps 👍👍
I looked up the fuel mix. Here’s what they recommend: And the mixing ratio of the fuel HANGKAI two-stroke outboards fuel used for lead-free number from 90 to 93 two-stroke gasoline and gas oil (TC-W3) mixed oil. The new machine in the running and fuel oil during the volume ratio of 25: 1 (ie, the oil content of 4% gasoline); After the run-in fuel and oil volume ratio of 50: 1 (ie, the oil content of 2% gasoline) ……………………………………………… I will mention that the break in oil volume will result in some oil residue. It could also cause the issue when running full speed…. Maybe do 35/1 and see if that helps? Once you get the 10 hour run in, the 50/1 mix will run clean and smooth. If you’ve watched all of my videos on the motor, I also changed the spark plug.👍👍
Update: Your carburetor may only have 1 adjustment screw. Here’s a video on that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oDkVVL0CJqk.htmlsi=4EM7p_5EzMFp6YtV
It's your lucky day! It is shown in one of my video's: Here is a link - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NCALT3MKAEk.html (PLEASE READ ALL THE BELOW 1ST) I can tell you very easily too: 1st you remove the pin holding it place. Kind of looks like a bobby pin. You will need to bend it back straight so it will slide out. Then take a flat head screwdriver and gently rock it between the propeller housing and the motor housing. It shows within the first minute in the video. Lastly, if you find the series helpful, and you have extra finances 😂.... Consider clicking the "THANKS" button below and to the right of any of my video's. You can then reward me financially for my help and efforts. Not required, and you would be surprised how even a $2 Thank You can inspire me to continue in my efforts. Regardless, thanks for watching and I'm happy to help out.
I never said that it’s a great motor. I just bought it to play around with, knowing it might be a lot of work. But that’s what I wanted. It worked for me and I didn’t spend much cash. You’re right in buying quality is the best option. But I had fun working on the little beast! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. 👍
Yes, with a few exceptions. Mine did fine but the fuel lines didn’t last very long. But when replacing, the new ones are made for use with the newer fuel types. I’ve seen ethanol free fuel in containers in like the outdoor departments in some stores but it’s pricey. Just swap out the fuel lines.👍👍
Bundler Dan? HAHA No way! This video is a prime example of how you over come setbacks. And so far, successfully so. The good news is, once you finish this project, you can set the ship out side for the wasps to return back to an entirely new upgraded apartment.
Haha….. I once tried capturing a spiderweb to put in The Black Pearl…. Not to successful. Then I wondered, “What if I caught a real spider and released it inside the ship!” I gave up on that idea…. I’m on a bit of a hold while I make some small items for a gift / art shop in Port Royal SC. But I’ll get back to the Flying Dutchman asap.👍👍
So I’ve been told 😂. Just read through the other comments. If you’re really really thankful, click the “THANKS” button bottom right of the video. Not necessary, but some people don’t know that you can reward masterpieces on RU-vid 😂. Regardless, I’m glad to hear that you appreciate my work 👍👍👍
Thank you Dan Great job I have one of these hot rods on order. Great info, Very interesting to me I just bought one for a birthday present for ME. 70 big ones. Fought cancer twice and won Going fishing now. I will be taking it apart shortly. Thanks again
Yep, you only have one life, live it with someone fun! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Take a victory lap while you’re out on the water 😎👍👍👍
😂 Thanks to an observant regular viewer, I’ve got another repair job to cover in the next segment. I’ve got a couple of smaller builds that I need to finish that I agreed to make for the Mrs B’s art and craft shop in Port Royal, but I should be back at it in a week or so.👍👍
It’s coming along. One little note is that the notches where the bulkheads and the deck meet; the deck planking should cover those notches instead of cutting the notches into the deck planking. I know because I also cut the notches into the deck planks and the bulkheads will show. It just seemed intuitive because the deck is notched but the deck planking shouldn’t be. Not a big deal because I see that on this kit only every other bulkhead is notched. Hope that makes sense. I only noticed it because I look for it now. I’ve seen others make the same mistake on similar kits, especially the Albatros kit. A lot of creativity goes into your builds so it’s a nice alternative to the strict builds.
I think I understand, I noticed it but thought maybe something will go there. I’m taking a few days break then I’ll see what I can do. I can fairly easily remove a plank or and cover it. I may ask a follow up question in a few days. Appreciate the help 👍
I went and looked. I’ve had ships that the bulkheads stick up and you cut them off at some point….. I remember thinking, ….Did I cut them off and forgot? But I see what you’re saying. If I had planked over them, they’d be out of sight. I’ll give it a try! Thanks again for helping me out. Some other novice builders will no doubt learn from my experiences 😂👍. I’ll post it in my next chapter. 😁🏴☠️
@@BoilerDan1 I think I over explained it but yes, the deck planking should cover those bulkhead notches. I’ve seen it enough times that I think Occre should make a point of attention but then again maybe they’re not getting that feedback. Easy fix if you’re not too far ahead in the build. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks; So that means you knew before I revealed the secret if the wasps? 😂. I’m not decided yet on the final finishes? I will definitely stain all the wood but will consider coming back with an airbrush and create some illusion of strange….. I’m not sure what I mean by that, but that’s what is in the back of my mind.😂🏴☠️
I just recently found your channel. I just got a Pond Prowler 10 and plan to fish a local river that has some current. I am very seriously considering your motor. Your videos have been very impactful in my deliberations. Keep up the great work.
If the prowler model is a hard shell, it will work much better than on the air filled raft that I had. The raft is too spongy causing a loss of thrust. You can break the motor in by taking it out on the river too. Just very your speed from time to time. Go up stream, then you can always drift back to your starting point.👍😂👍 . Enjoy your adventures, and thanks for watching. 👍
You’re welcome. If able and would like to support and reward my efforts, click the “Thanks” tab below and right of the video. If you’d like a good laugh, read the previous comments regarding the video. Enjoy your beach visits and ability to pack up and go, stress free 😂👍

Hallo Dan! It's Hanno from Germany. We had a corispondense some weeks ago. Maby you remamber. Now I am starting the building and I allready finish the first deck. Now I want to put decoration in and I'm sad, because there are no bottles and no dad man bones. Do you have an idea? Sorry for my english, it's not the best!😊
Your English is good. There are different versions of the Black Pearl. It sounds like the one you have isn’t from ZHL. My first one wasn’t either 😂👍. Bottles: take a small dowel rod, then sand or file down the top to get the shape of bottles. Or make them out of children’s play dough, let dry and get hard, then paint. Bones are bit harder. But there are very small rib like bones I have found when I eat chicken! Save them, clean and let dry. You can trim them to make smaller….. might be able to form some leg / arm bones too. The scull might be difficult, but forming one out of clay might work? If you can find someone that has a 3D printer, they might be able to make some of the items that you need. ……………………………………………… More thoughts: Small tips of wooden tree branches that you could bend while freshly cut and form legs, arms, even fingers 😂. Time to get creative 👍👍 I’m just getting started on The Flying Dutchman. Check it out sometime: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nudBBVIEnAA.htmlsi=J_DIKZnBbSUWvkaY Enjoy building your Black Pearl 👍
@hannoschattauer6980 The Golden edition doesn’t provide them , but in the All Scenario version that I have they were? You could contact ZHL and ask. I have a contact person listed below: Contract is: Max Zing at email modelshipkit@gmail.com If you make your own it will be a better treasure as time passes 👍🏴☠️👍
Yes, I asked ZHL. If a don't get an answer than I would ask this man. I just have another idea: I could take one of the 3 sets of bones and cut it in small pieces to make a New skeleton. Do you know what I mine? And for the missing botles I bought this material to form the things and after drying it get hard. Knete?😂 with this I also can make things the table.and for Dekoration. 😊 OK nice greetings from Germany!
Great videos Dan! Did you obtain greater life from the Honda aftermarket clutch? I suspect the lighter spring allows quicker seating of the friction material, as well as greater force at mid level RPMs. I'm curious to know how you fared!
All the springs were too heavy so I ended putting in a very light spring that I picked up at a hardware store. It did much better, although it may have been so light that at idle the prop may have still been too. That was fine with me. I’m getting a little older and sold the system. That person was familiar with the motor and thrilled to have mine. I’d have been happier with it on a hard shell small boat….. The raft was a little too spongy causing it to lose thrust. But I had a lot of fun with it and would do it all over again.😂👍 Thanks for watching and hope the series helped you too. 👍👍
😂👍 Welcome to the club! I never dreamed that this video would be my most viewed….. I spent a full year on building The Black Pearl ship and it is no where close to the success of The Tommy Chair…. If you want a good laugh, read through other comments from the past.😂😂😂. Glad to have you aboard 🏴☠️.
You’re welcome! I truly appreciate your generosity in the SUPER THANKS payment. Actually the beach chair video is my most watched ! It took all of 30 minutes to produce. I spend untold hours building wooden model ships and producing related videos…… none produce much revenue 😂. I will put yours $ to good use, as my RU-vid cash goes towards equipment and ships to build in the future. Thanks for taking your time to give me some positive feedback as well.
Maybe because you might have a different version of raft. It’s simple to measure yourself. My purpose was to provide a concept and to document my adventure. Now it’s your turn to create your own story. Enjoy your journey.👍 Thanks for watching 👍👍
