I’ve always interpreted the skull laughing at us to be V1 itself, (Don’t really have a comprehensible explanation for why) if that’s the case, what if the doors aren’t actually locked, it’s just V1’s programming restricting itself from leaving until everything is dead (Would be interesting but I have literally no basis for this other than V1 went out of their way to Minos and Sisyphus, so, would be on par or somethin)

I think the doors don't really close. it is the system of v1 that prevents him from accidentally going further to get as much blood as possible, and when v1 receives a lot of hits, this screen notifies that the system is in critical condition
I don´t thnk that its reused for convenience, something closes the doors and i don´t think its gabriel my personal theory is that it is Lucifer (he lives in the treason circle, the last one, and maybe he closes the doors attempting to stop us before has to kill us himself or something like that idk)
Would it be crazy if the door lock became a Greater Demon-class enemy that emerges from the door, grows a body, spawns enemies, and barrages you with a flurry of Hell energy attacks?

Yeah, we now know Hell itself is alive and messing with V1, so it is probably it laughing at us when we die to an enemy encounter it locked us in a room with well I unpaused and 5 seconds later there you are saying the same thing
