Bit harsh, I think the slalom/whitewater guys have a slightly different technique to flatwater paddlers as you see in this vid. A main aim he has is keeping the rudderless kayak going straight so arms pull through along the boat I think. I don’t like it either but it works for them
Foot pressure leading to hip rotation needs emphasised,not twisting from belly button area. Unless hips move from foot pressure the upper body is not engaged with the power generating feet/thighs.
Abs are small, weak muscles. Quads, glutes are big ones. That’s where the power comes from. Legs. Butt. Abs keep everything stable, but don’t propel. Legs. Butt.
