Jack Stoddart and his wife Lynne began hosting music gatherings on their secluded farm around 10-15 years ago in rural Overton County, TN. It all started with an annual music festival, called ‘Jammin at Hippie Jacks’. The project quickly gained momentum and has now sustainably turned all of its events into food, coat, shoes, and children’s toy drives for the underprivileged living on the Cumberland Plateau.
In 2015 Stoddart began to focus his time and energy into humanitarian efforts for Appalachians in former mining communities around Overton County. It began simply, by asking people to bring in donations of food and clothes to distribute to people that Stoddart knew personally. The next step of increasing outreach was teaming up with; Soles4Souls, The Stephens Center, The AD Foundation, and TDO The next JHJ festival will take place May 23-26 of 2019 on our farm in Middle Tennessee.

Ashamed to say this is my 1st time hearing Guy Clark. What a great writer, you couldn't get me to listen to what they play today. Bless him if he's passed on. 68 and still learning.
Waylon Holyfield, Harlan Howard. I was surprised to hear Hickory Holler Mall. The only other time I’d ever heard of Hickory Holler was from a record my parents had, and passed down to me, called Hickory Holler’s Tramp, by O C Smith. I knew every song on that album since I was a child in the sixties. Had no idea there was an actual place by that name. I haven’t found a RU-vid bio of Verlon Thompson. Wish someone would create one, about his childhood, learning to play guitar, getting into playing professionally, all the details about his life. It would be great if he wrote an autobiography audiobook. Lots of singers, like Brandi Carlile, have written their autobiography, using their songs to add to the story of their lives. With an audiobook, there is no cost of printing. Verlon, I believe, played a big role in Guy Clark’s life.
Found you volunteering at Merlfest. I always wanted to be the drummer in a bluegrass band. You gave me a home and I love the way your percussion section drives the songs
