Welcome to my channel! My name is Wade. I'm a fairly effective communicator who is irritated by the misuse of "your" and "you're." If you want to become a more impactful communicator, make sure to subscribe to my channel!
I was asked to take up the role just few hours prior to the Meeting. I am the person how was given the icebreaker in the ice age and never attempted the prepared speach even once due to fear. But, today i am so happy that i could give Justice to the Toastmaster Role. Thank you for your videos which helped me prepare for the role.😊
I hate table topics. Which means I really need to practice. I'm not afraid of speaking - it's not having anything to say! Thanks for this great advice.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm doing the timer role for my second meeting ever this evening and although not massively nervous YET, I really don't want to be boring. This has helped massively, thank you.
This was super helpful! Thank you, been with toastmaster about 6 months now. First time doing Grammarian. The podium turned sideways was a great tip. I enjoyed learning about this as you put a positive spin on it. Not to say that it was negative. You just helped me feel more at ease with it!
This video has motivated me to take on the Gen Evaluator role! I’ve only done it once before, right in the beginning of my TM journey. Looking back I cringe at my performance, yet everyone, at the time, was very encouraging. The thing about roles is this: you learn from others as much as you learn from yourself, as long as you participate and learn from mistakes (as well as outstanding performances)!
Thank you for every tip that you give; it helps me a lot. Now I know what I have to prepare if I'm being a panelist again at some event or discussion group.
[...a time you summoned the courage to deal with a difficult situation?]... _"Well it all started about 12 seconds ago when I was called on by a sadist in a green shirt to answer quite possibly one of the worst Table Topic questions one could get..."_
Great question! When you basically repeat a word at the beginning of the sentence. For example: "Once... once upon a time." "The... the moral of the story."
You can apply vocal variety to any speech! But perhaps an easy way is to tell a suspenseful story and use vocal variety to capture/keep the audience’s attention.
First off, congrats on your wedding! Not that I'm an expert on wedding vows, my best advice is to write something personalized, for your partner, from the heart. Don't feel like you have to have those memorized, I had mine on a sheet of paper at my wedding. Best of luck with all the speaking you'll do at your wedding! Try not to let the stress get in the way of you enjoying your big day!
Great timing, I take Ah-counter role next week and already introduced this video to my club membes. I hope we will be able to have Ah-counter like yours.
Thank you for the great promotion of Shin-Osaka Leaders, Wade. I did not attend the meeting you went to, and it looks like I missed a good one. Nicely done with the Table Topics question and interviews as well. I have had the pleasure of visiting (online) TM Clubs in Canada and there are some quality TMs in that fine country. You did your countrymen proud, Wade. Hopefully your time in Japan was all that you needed, and wanted, it to be. Be well, safe travels and good things to you Wade.
I thought I was watching CNN, but it's you. You're so profesional. This is Toastmaster Yoshi. The picture of the river is Dotonbori. It's one of the most popular spots in Osaka. There is a famous octopus dumpling shop. If you didn't try, let's go there next time. Of course on me. Thank you for making and uploading the video about Sin-Osaka leaders TM club.
You’re too kind, Yoshi! Thank you so much. It was nice to meet you in person and great job on your speech! And yes, Octopus Dumplings next time for sure!
Hi, Mr. Paterson. I'm Firda, i watched your videos and it really helped me to practice my speaking skill. Thank u for sharing these insightful contents. Have a great day!
Hi Mr. Paterson, I'm Adinda Kaysa. I just watched your video on how to be a good panelist and I'm grateful for the tips you shared. However, I face trouble in conveying the core and important points of my message effectively, and I was hoping you could provide me with some guidance on how to make the listeners receive what I want to convey. By the way, I subscribed to your RU-vid channel and I'm looking forward to more useful content from you. Thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and for subscribing! Prior to the panel, try writing down a list of 4 or 5 key points you want to articulate during the session. If the questions you're being asked aren't hitting those key points, you can always transition. For example: If I want to talk about how video is important with social media, but I am asked the question: "Which social media network should the audience focus on?" My response could be: "I actually think it's less critical to worry about which social media network, and most important to focus on the type of content you're putting out on any social media network... and the best content to put out is video content." Hopefully that helps!
Hello Mr. Paterson, I'm Abdi and I have watched your video. I think your video is very good and it really gives me an insight into being a panelist. Thank you for making this video and I wait for more of your helpful videos.😊
