Appreciate the video. As seasoned travelers to the Maya We go here in December 2024 looking for a change from the usual All Inclusive resorts but I am now a little concerned over the food ‘ ratings’ as we are both foodies and from the looks of things we could be disappointed?
Hi there, we are also seasoned Mexico travellers with about 20 trips in the past. Loved the snorkelling but We were disappointed with the Akumal resorts buffet and it was on the bottom of our list from the places we have stayed in the past. (Restaurants were ok). For info In playa del Carmen area, we have stayed at some Riu resorts (palace, tequila and Yucatan) and always were pleased with the buffets. And also we liked the food at the grand sunset princess (which is also covered in one of our resort videos).
We did not experience any waits to book our reservations. We did the buffet the evening we arrived, immediately booked our next 3 restaurants for the next 3 days (which was the limit), then buffet again, and book restaurants for our remaining days. Helped that we went in low season. And no doubt It is very busy with Grand Sunset and Grand Riviera sharing everything. 🙂
I have 10 and 6 year olds, decent swimmers. How far of a swim before you might see turtles and separately the corals? Any general idea would be appreciated.
Hello friend, the best location we found was the North East corner of the secrets resort at the roped off perimeter, (far out, so life jacket recommended). That's where we found coral, a few turtles, a few stingrays and lots of fish. If you wonder outside of the rope, the locals kayaks will come in a hurry to tell you get back on the resort side haha. AND OF COURSE YOU CAN PAY THE LOCALS TO TOUR & PLAY OUTSIDE THE ROPES, BUT ITS TOTALLY CROWDED. Also to see schools of fish (but no turtles or stingrays) go to Yalku in the area, but you have to pay for that experience as well. But quite fun. Enjoy your trip !!!😁
Hola Teresa, sí, es un resort hermoso y divertido y nos encantó el resort y Playa Del Carmen. (Soy canadiense, así que estoy usando un traductor para responder a tu mensaje).😆👋
Hi there, I think it was still available, but we did not do the yoga or the sound of music, maybe next time. Spent most of our time snorkeling and exploring & walking the area.
Great Marie, March is a nice break from the winter months and mexico is the place to do it. Don't forget to bring your snorkel and water shoes. Enjoy Enjoy 🙂
Hi Nezar, It was at check-in that the person at the front desk told us it was 70 pesos one way. (Sorry we didn't actually take a shuttle to Playa). If you are going, and you have time, do follow up and let us know it's is free. Thanks for the info.
Hi Shawn, thank you. The "tenors" show was performed in the beautiful lounge area and the stage shows (dancing and singing) were in their large auditorium just above the lounge. We did not see any shows by the pools.
I’m staying at the Yucatan Platinum next door on Aug 22nd, thanks for the info about the shows. I will have to look at their schedule & check out a show or 2 & thanks for the quick response…
Hola Patricia, nos alegra que te haya gustado nuestro video y esperamos que disfrutes del Princess resort y tengas un clima perfecto. (We are Canadians y usamos el traductor de Google para leer su mensaje y respnder jaja). 👋
Hi Paula The 5 restaurants mentioned in our video (and the buffets) were included in our "all Inclusive" package (we did not have a premium package) There are more premium restaurants which were likely nicer but not available to us. And there was one "Chill Out" that we could have gone to and paid for the meal. But we only had a 7 day package, so we stuck to the 5 + buffet and had something new everyday we were there. Cheers
Hi Sean, they will explain it to you at check-in, but they have a website and you login to the website and from there you can click to restaurants and reserve from there. The basic included wifi connection is very poor and frustrating to do anything on the web, (but eventually you do get through). But If you don't want to put up with the slow connection, they can sell you better Internet at $18 for 7 days per 1 devise. Enjoy your trip.
Hi, thank you, we are happy you enjoyed our video and got some knowledge of the resort. Regarding platinum club, we did not partake in that service so can't give you fair advise. We were aware there are some nice extra exclusives (such as a private pool and 24 room service etc.) but those didn't entice us. Enjoy your trip
@@gregmck1339 thank you! Is there an app to download for the restaurants at the hotel? And is it cheaper to book activities with my travel agency or at the hotel?
@@gerrym1093 - I believe it was through their website and then a login. They will advise you at the check-in. Note it's poor "free" wifi, it was frustrating connecting & booking restaurants. This trip we did not go on any excursions however if you go with sunwing they insist to meet you the next day and run through available tours etc. other wise, if you have the time, there were other booths available in the resort that perhaps were cheaper. ScubaCaribe is along the sidewalk, we did snorkling tour last year at different hotel (@$50 per person), very fun (and one of our videos haha). Enjoy your trip.
Thanks very much. It was our first time at the Princess, its a beautiful resort. Our usual stay is at the Riu Tequila in Playa which is also really nice and good food and good price. Its not located on the beach but you walk about the same distance to get to the beach as the princess (because the princess is so big and long lol).
Thank You, yes water shoes are a very good idea. There is rock to contend with when you first enter the ocean and some rougher areas when you walk north down the beach. Enjoy your vacation
