It's a crying shame that the channels on sky can't or wont show this programme from the first to last series 1000 better than the crap is shown at the moment.

@@delzworld2007 Afraid to say I have lived in Cornwall 24 years and Hogmanay tv is in a totally different Planet I well remember this and the last time I saw this great man on the telly on New Years Eve was in 1989.
Of all the "apocalypse" films, "On the Beach" one is, perhaps, the most depressing and unnerving because of the unreality of it all. The bombs gave fallen, and humanity is on the verge of becoming extinct... and everybody is so bloody CALM about it. No one's freaking out, no one's cracking and going on a violent crime spree, just another... last day in paradise. "Radiation's coming? Oh, dear. Well, let me get my suicide pills and drink up what I can of the port."
@@ianleiper Due to the standard of actors, budgets, changing audiences, such as shame that the regulars in this series have passed on, I loved watching this in the early 1960’s, as they were household names.
@@ianleiper I may seen them all in the 1960’s, loved the concept, the actors, the theme music, thought that Tannochbrae was a real place, think that my late parents cooked me stew and dumplings.
Hi thanks for watching and your comment yes I well remember seeing this on its 2nd time round on TV in late 1987 there is nought to compare to this today.
also, for those who don't have the Gaelic, Bobby McLeod said, "Bliadhna Mhath Ùr dhut agus slàinte mhath" (Happy new year and good health to you" (13:07)
Thanks for watching and your kind comments.T.V today is absolutely tripe compaired to this almost 4 decades ago.I watched this in 1986 and recorded it when it was repeated in late 1987 with my first vidio recorder which set you back £600 in those days.
This is hilarious! You dont want to mess with a Bermondsey girl!! Saturday night tv back in the day was brilliant. Days when we could have a good laugh without soneone moaning thatbtgey are "offended" by some nonsense or other.
Aged nine at the time, I was halfway through junior school. My musical memories then were of Atarah Ben Tovim and her concerts at Birmingham Town Hall. She inspired me to learn about music-making and the orchestra. I am now in my early fifties and a string player in an amateur orchestra (with the gift of perfect pitch!)
Good on you to watch this afraid the clarity is poor but back in 1979 things were different as this was on a Vidio Tape. Last year's Proms on their Last Night was really poor and more Foreign Flags than our Union Jack I was living in Scotland then and did not see 1 Scottish Flag on that night.I did see a Cornish Flag which cheered me up as I have lived in Cornwall since I retired 20 plus years back. All the best in your String Playing and thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching and your comment Jimmy was a Legend for Scotland I well remember his Bluebell Polka in the mid 1950,s it was popular with Housewife,s Choice
