it wasn't my favorite but i really liked it, it is probably the same reason why i liked salem's lot. i like king's books where he takes another story or concept and tries in he's own style. but i hope you'll like rest of the dark tower!
Excellent video! 11/22/63 is not a horror novel but still a magnificent read. Dead Ringers is a great movie, love Cronenberg. If you like vampires I would recommend Let The Right One In, vampires at their bloody, nasty, vicious best. I would start at Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and move on from there.
that is great, I had actually never heard of Dead Ringers :D I will have to look that up, as for Anne Rice I do own a few of hers but not the beginning of the series and I just haven't decided jet if I want to buy the rest as ebooks or look for them second hand, so i need to decide on that so I can finally start reading them.
You should try Blackwater by Michael Mcdowell...I seen Mikes book reviews recommend it, hes a huge Stephen King guy same with Brian Lee Durfee. I'm probably going to try it this spooky season, have to order it, hard to find in book stores the complete saga. Looking forward to it 5 decades of the Sasky family in Perdido Alabama, a southern gothic family drama/horror
Good to know about how EBay shows the actual book you're going to purchase. I just bought Salem's Lot online via a seller on Abe Books and I will need to mend the cover. Btw, I'm following your suggestions on how to read Stephen King. Thanks!
Oh i have not heard about that side, but it looks like a good side to search for specific used books. Have you had a good experience with the side ? How cool :) I hope you will enjoy your King journey :)
Great Video! Salem's Lot is an excellent vampire novel. I would also advise to read his short story and novella collections as this gives you a good feel for his writing. Night Shift is awesome but I prefer Skeleton Crew, perhaps because it is the first collection I read from the author. I would also recommend 11/22/63 as a starting point for non-horror readers, an absolutely amazing time-travel adventure that is beautifully told. Agree, his Hardcover Crime novels give us a glimpse into his versatility as an author, My favorite is Joyland. Dolores Claireborne is a wonderful novel. My top 3: The Stand, IT, The Shining. Look forward to seeing more quality horror content.
Thank you :) I have read neither Skeleton Crew nor 11/22/63 yet, but they are defenitely on my list to pick up in the near future so I'm really looking forward to those. I also really enjoyed Joyland. The Stand & The Shining are fantastic and I mean It is by far my favourite so I get your top 3 :D
Thanks for the recommendations. I haven't read Stephen King since I read Pet Semester and I was too freaked out to finish it. But he's such a good writer so I will start again with Sales Lot. My favorite book of his was The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. Have you read it?
I also needed two tries to get through Pet Cemetary :D Yes I have, it's a great book, perfect length and a really interesting story. I think my favourite is IT though :D
@@teresah1877 thank you :) yes, I totally get that. It did make it really hard to focus on the book and I really don't want to know where the smell is from
I love how you have made such cute wearables as a new knitter and crocheter! You inspired me to get started on a cardigan project that I have all the yarn for. Have a good day!
That mythology book is beautiful- not sure where I stand on mythology retellings, since so many are Greek, specifically. They are perhaps becoming a bit played out. I know very little about what this one would be based on though so that might help
Yes, illumicrate does such pretty books. Totally get that, though I do prefer to know the myth before reading a retelling so greek ones do make more sense in my case. This one is based on the Mahabharata, which I also knew nothing about
I'm so sorry about your gluten issue :( My boss has the same problem. It's not until you see someone struggle that you realise how much gluten is in everything. But hopefully, you have access to gluten-free soy sauce and bread like we do here! Happy reading. Working full time is rough x
I love Stardew Valley, too, so I'm thrilled that you mentioned it! I also enjoyed hearing about your latest reads, and always like watching subscription box unboxings :)
My biggest gripe with star ratings is the fact that for most people the default seems to be 5 stars and then they deduct stars if they didn't like something. If everything is 5 stars by default, how do you award something that is above average? If everything is 5 stars, nothing is 5 stars. I rank book by a 2 star scale, 1 star = I like it, 0 stars = I don't like it (not publicly ofc because it would mess with the statistics) PS: good video but at least for my taste you seem to be a bit quiet even with headphones. + Points for the Dune book :D
That is a great point. For me the default is three stars and then I deduct or add from there. Oh thank you I haven't yet gotten any feedback for sound so that's great to know :)
@@bookishfranzi967 Yes three stars as default is also a very valid rating but I would fear to damage statistics by using it. In a world where everyone is using 5 stars, us using 3 stars would negatively impact the rating overall I feel. But generally, three stars as default does make a lot more sense in my opinion
@@skryvvara i guess because off all the people I've seen who "hate read" books and then give bad ratings I think I don't ruin too many ratings. But I totally get your point
I like the old thrillers by Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. The big sleep. lady in the lake. The Maltese falcon. Best wishes with what you choose to read and to your channel from Lancashire, England.
Thank you, I'm feeling much better :) As for the reading it's going rather average but one can not love every book so that is totally fine :D hope your reading is going great as well
Well it did take me two weeks and I was on vacation, so I did have a lot of time to read :D But yeah I didn't realise it would be as long as It. That sounds really cool :)
I love the I Am Legend book! I'm excited for Last to Leave the Room, thanks for the heads up... I still think I'll enjoy it but it's good to know what to expect! I loved The Luminous Dead, I hope you do too. Hope you feel better in December!
Actually no, I only know about the one with Will Smith. That is really interesting, though to be honest I'm not surprised I didn't know that because I'm not that much of a movie person 😂
Aw, thank you so much :) It took some time to get my head around and I had to redo some parts, but yeah it's still really fun to do :D and I think the look is worth the trouble :)
I've heard so many great things about this series, I can't wait to start reading it! I recently met Adrian Tchaikovsky at an author event and got him to sign the three Children books. I'm planning a buddy read of Children of Time in December.
That is so cool. Hopefully you will like it :) I'm definetly due for a reread of the series but I also have so many of his other books still to read that it's a hard choice what to read by him
The Knife of Never Letting Go was a great book. I read it during my High School Junior year english clash as part of a study on Dystopian works, and of the ones being read by that class, it was one of the best. I was glad I got assigned it.
Wow, 37 mins, this is quite long but I'm glad that you are will to share your opinion with the world. Personally I like small channels the best because if someone is committed, without any incentive (monetary, popularity), then it usually means the content will be sincere.
The Martha Wells book sounds like a fun read! I need to get into her books. (I am so happy I got to meet her when I was in Sweden - re. my most recent vlog).
Kings of the Wild has been on my tbr to years, and with your reccomendation now I think it will be read soon! The Illumicrate itens seem very nice. Laini Taylor was one of my favourite writers when I was a teenager, I loved the Smoke & Bone trilogy of hers, it is YA, which is not something I enjoy anymore but I still love those books. I hope you don't mind this comment but I thought your hair curled looked nice (: Hope you had fun at the wedding and that you're having a good day!
Well then it's defenitely time to read it^^ I think I might have started the Smoke & Bone Trilogy but yeah I also struggle with YA at the moment. Thank you :)
I finally finished the Wheel of Time last month and wow… that entire series is a monumental chore. But it was such a great experience. I didn’t love all of them but they were a great read and I hope to reread them soon. Good luck on your reading month. Looks like you’ve got great picks there 👍
I'm travelling tomorrow and I'm planning on listening to the audiobook for Howl's Moving Castle and I am so excited for it! I have seen the movie but I'm so curious to know where they deviated from the book
