Tackling the video game backlog and making videos about it. RPGs, some platformers, action, adventure, simulation. Expect Top 10s, and maybe some edited playthroughs.
Every single thing that I didn't like in the Burning Shores was bounded to the fact that it felt rushed... Every encounter, every character presentation, every side quest, all of it... It felt like Guerrilla was like "ok we gotta put this out now now now!!" Or maybe they were like: "nah its fine like this... whatever...¬¬"
The nice thing about the DLC while you can't start it till you complete the FW main story the new skills are available right away. So you can use that cool grapple strike once it's unlocked. It's faster to unlock the new skills on a NG+ playthrough especially if you start at level 60. Chances are you have a bunch of unused skill points so you can immediately unlock these new ones :)
With all my respect on your opinion but i don't understand why people continue to say that Forbidden West story is worse thab HZD, i think FW is superior in every aspect the story too, it ( the story ) brings so many astounding stuff and opened so many implications and is even more actual with all the AI concerns and the self made rich powerful CEOs besides the ecological and ethic stuff of the first game of course, and Aloy continuing her journey develops more deeply and bounds with other people, the first was a really great brilliant game and story serving as a first start, answering whats happened and Who She really is, basicaly is her own journey, but the second is a totally different story, it begins to open on what's up in the rest of the world and more deep lore.
Just found your channel, hi! Gonna be binging while I work on my own stuff. Have you gotten to any of the games you mentioned here? Particularly guacamelee, I want to know if it's worth the time
Quite a few of them actually! I have edits in the blog post linked in the description with my quick thoughts on each one I've played. For guacamelee specifically, I think it is worth checking out as it has some really cool ideas, but some of the combat arenas towards the end can be pretty frustrating.
Great video! Like you I felt the same way until I finally played HFW and experienced how intricate the writing was, and the in-depth character development. Both the base game and DLC are IMO top notch and a masterpiece of gameplay and writing. This probably will go down as one of my favorite games. My playtime has been 214:43:01, and I haven't finished Burning Shores yet --- But I am also playing on VH, so I'm not sure how much that would affect things.
I bought HFW when it first released. Didn't get hooked on it initially. I actually wasn't even a huge fan of HZD. Decided to give HFW another chance recently and it definitely gets better over time. This video popped up in my recommendations btw. Great review, well written and solid editing. You've got yourself a new sub 🎉
I was trying to pick a good PS platformer to play to entertain my 1 and 3-year-old children when your video popped up in my feed. It's a sign! Great content, friend; cheers.
I wish Burning Shores wasn't a PS5 exclusive, because I played the game on PS4. I guess they don't want my money. That being said though, completely agree with you on just how fun this game is to play and that the story more than holds up when you actually accept the sci-fi elements.
@@Funky28. Oh is that so genius? If I look up the reason I will know the reason? Fan-fucking-tastic. I don't care what excuse was used (and my guess is hardware limitations) in reality it's an exclusivity deal to promote PS5. This has been done several times now, like with the Final Fantasy VII Integrade DLC. This DLC does nothing the PS4 pro can't handle and there are plenty of people who don't have the overpriced and highly scalped PS5.
That's unfortunate :(( But honestly, once you are able to play this game, you'll see why forcing it to be available for PS4 too would considerably lower the quality of this game. The graphics and animations of this game are just on another level.
It’s a solid game. I’d give it an 8/10. It was foolish for them to release it so close to Elden Ring. It’s a little overpriced for its age and demand right now. I’d wait for $40 or below.
Great review! I absolutely love the main game, I put over 300 hours into it in 2022, but the dlc felt rushed and at times poorly written. I liked the gameplay, the bossbattle and the scenery, and loved the -----/ Spoilers! /----- Gildun quest, cause I just love that man. But Seyka feels a little flat, Aloy doesn't seem like herself (killing Nova just like that; encouraging Seyka to f*ck the tribe, when she learned so much in Forbidden West about the importance of tribes), the Quen don't seem fleshed out and the canon lore about them is just thrown out the window by GG (why does no one recognize Aloy as an Ancestor, why is the general a mega fluffball and so unlike Bohai and the CEO and just gives Seyka the greenlight to find the missing Quen even though she broke their super strict laws and stole a focus, why didn't they tell the Quen people about Alva and Legacy's Landfall right away (it's kinda important ya know)...). I think there was a lot more potential, but it feels a little empty and bland. Also the romance was super rushed for such a short dlc.
In fairness, the Fleet’s End Quen lost all of their diviners, so a lot of people would probably not recognize a clone of Sobeck. Even the ones at the greenhouse facility didn’t realize who she was at first. As for telling them about the other Quen in SF, Aloy did address that stating that focusing on finding the missing should come first. Whether we accept that reasoning is another matter, but at least they acknowledge it.
56 hours and you feel like your done in the forbidden west. Im at something like 380 hours and I now feel like im done with forbidden west. Ultra hard is fun
Crazy that they didnt use landmarks like the golden gate bridge or the large dam out of bounds as gateways to the dlc. Like forreal why is that dam even in the game?
Nice review, it's a truly stunning game, i've put in 120 hours up until now, still have to play burning shores(hopefully the wife will allow me some more hours to play🤣)
The freeze frame at 1:37. I know EXACTLY where that is and what moment. The Utaru choir is singing in the background and it is legit one of the best moments of the game. And it's a SIDE QUEST!
I specifically need to go back and make a save for that. I neglected to do so my first time around, and I plan to correct that mistake the first chance i get
Probably! I used to for a while, but now I've fallen into the anti-clickbait groove of just putting the game name as the title. I think a happy middle ground between that and straight up click bait would be best.
This is the first video of yours I've seen. I must say the audio and editing are brilliant. A very down to earth approach at talking about the game, its' history, and new player experience. I feel like this formula could carry you far if kept consistent in quality (now to binge your other videos)
Hey I just got this in my recommended and put on whilst I'm doing my daily stuff in FFXIV. Really enjoyed the commentary and the format so just wanted to send you my support and wish you the best with the channel. I've subscribed so look forward to you keeping up the good work! x
Worm!! I dislike the pre-rendered background style, I’m always wondering what is movable space and what is just decoration. I understand though that it was probably an in style thing to do for awhile. Do you have to use the judgment wheel? I mean if you choose to just not tap the x button during that does your attack automatically miss? You mentioned the red areas being high risk/high reward which makes me think you don’t HAVE to try for them. The main character absorbing monster makes me think of SMT/Persona. The name makes me think it’s connected to Kingdom Hearts in some way.
