I have been playing drums for over two decades now and have been teaching for about 18 years. My outlook on teaching has always been - if you can't find the materials that suit your teaching, then create them. I have published two books on drumming methods and have created a unique approach to playing drums with brushes. So you can expect to see tutorials on my approach, one sweep at a time 😀.

Luv playing this must groove for drummers by Gadd. Once i get my brush technique down, will be awesome to play. Another great approach using brushes Anthony 👏

Anthony great concept. I have the prologix. Great that they firmed up the top surface. The one shipped warps and unusable. Would be nice to make available a lefty version. I’ll firm up mine and draw the train tracks 👍

I have just started learning brushes. I love the art, but a lot of these patterns are complicated. I have had to look at others for the basics before moving on the process that has more steps in it. I have to start simple and move on from there.

It's taken me a long time to feel comfortable with brushes and what I will stay is it has improved my stick playing. This is because it makes you think about the length of notes!

Excellent lesson. Would you ever consider doing a video lesson for the brush pattern on the Miles Davis song Mood from the album ESP. Tony Williams uses a cross stick and brush hybrid pattern around 21 seconds in, which sounds great.
@LuvskiDrums
@LuvskiDrums 10 дней назад
Sorry for the delayed response! The way I would play it is the right hand sweeping out on every on- beat, in on every off-beat, then left hand cross stick on 3.

@@LuvskiDrumsThank you, this worked well for the track. You just have to slightly accent the on beat so it stands out from the off beat 👍

I've been watching your videos and short vids and find them very inspiring and easy to follow. This one is especially helpful at present. I play in a swingin' blues band. This pattern would go nicely on a song that incorporates a dobro guitar. We've played it for years, and I always have used sticks with a shuffle beat. The brushes would give the same vibe while changing the creative approach.

Next, can you explain the same concept of not rushing and playing too much in between beats, but using sticks instead of brushes? Sticks are louder and much more noticeable to an audience, and I imagine drummers struggle more with ballads and other slow-tempo styles when playing with sticks. Not everyone owns a pair of brushes (myself included, unfortunately), but every drummer owns at least one pair of beat up drum sticks lol
@taywimz
@taywimz 22 дня назад
Oh... I just realized the "brushes" part of your channel name lol. Guess I'm asking the wrong question in the wrong place then, huh?

Yeah you got it! I'm all for helping drummers improve their brush game. There's plenty of teachers way better than me who can teach this stuff with sticks. Having said that, yes I can explain and teach that with sticks, just not on this page

Well, for me this is intimidating; much to much information in a 8 minute lesson. I'm still studying your 30 days brush lessons. The progression in the difficulty of that course is fitting me nicely. But the above video is frightening me more than it is encouraging to buy your book. Is the book also meant for the more advanced drummer??
@LuvskiDrums
@LuvskiDrums 25 дней назад
Hi Jack, please don't feel intimidated, as you're on the right path. The 30-day kickstart is a great starting point, then if like you could move onto purchasing my first brush book, or one of my courses. My newest course, Brush Grooves on Demand would be a good next step. The ideas presented in this video are for those who have a good grasp on my method. Yes, it is more advanced, but you can apply the same concepts to slightly simpler material. All I'm presenting here what's eventually possible. In my newest book that I'm working on, I will be laying all the step needed to get to this point. Thanks for checking out my video.

Hey, I’m so sorry this has disappointed you. To be honest I only just recently learned a little more about DnB / Jungle. It’s all very new to me and I didn’t mean to offend the purists. Just wanted to offer a beat with brushes that was a little different. Have a good day mate!
