Yep. I just watched a very obvious heroin addict standing in a Taco Bell parking lot counting out the stack of money she collected panhandling on the side of the expressway. The workers at Taco Bell told her to come inside so she wouldn’t get robbed. The reason these people do this is because people feel bad for them being “down on their luck”. I refuse to give anyone panhandling a dime. I work way too hard for my money to give it away to someone who doesn’t want to work. My husband bought food for a guy who was panhandling and said he was hungry. My husband didn’t have any cash but he told the guy he would take him to get food wherever he wanted. He chose Arby’s. My husband bought him a nice meal and then dropped him back off where he had been standing. A few minutes later he watched the guy throw the unopened bag of food away because he saw a couple he thought he could get some cash from. My husband went and got the bag out of the trash and brought it over to the guy and told the people to not give him any money. Unfortunately it’s like feeding stray animals. If you give these people money they will keep coming back and they will bring their friends. The worst is the people who trot their kids out though.
