If I just knew: WHAT the thing is 🤔. 🤯 🤔🤔🤔🙄😥😢😰😵💫😵😱 😶😐😑😕 😶🌫️ I don't know. Honestly. It just scares me, that there is something that h a s to be done. 😨
I've been playing for 25 years, tried slap and double-thumbing in the past and just couldn't ever get it. So I've largely stuck to playing the bass similar to fingerpicked guitar. I'm decent, but that does get kind of boring... I don't know what it is about this video, but I've got it bookmarked and have been revisiting it every few days. First tried it out and it was very clumsy. But 2 weeks later I've got that basic roll DOWN, to the point where I'm playing Primus songs I never thought I'd be able to play properly! I think it was how you called it a "roll". I also play banjo so I know a slot of different rolls from Scruggs-style, and something about approaching it as a roll totally unlocked it in my brain! I'm still trying to figure out when/how to properly integrate it into my normal playing, but that'll come with time/practice. Thank you for putting this out there! Been so focused on this one technique that I've not checked your other vids, but I will be. Always keep learning!
I never liked this song... until now. First time I saw Storm she was playing at Savino's in Hood River, Oregon with The Balls, and she had my friend down on all fours and was slapping him while riding him like a pony and belting out some utterly amazing vocals. Last time I saw her was a Christmas show she put on in San Jose, California which was so memorable. She's worked hard for so long and still seems so underrated and underacknowledged for the talent she really is.
I left 'the church" but later returned God. Pick up that bible...seek Him. Speaking of men...Jesus is 'the Man'. Some men see him as weak/soft because He is meek. As Jordan Peterson said something along the line of of: be meek is to know how to wield a sword but keep it sheathed. Read: Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldrige Jesus is a man's man which the church rarely reveals
One of my favorite musical moments of 2023. You can see my short lil blonde head boogieing on the front row between Peter and Warren. Can’t get more epic! ‘Cept we waited after the show and Warren and Danny signed our Hatch poster.
I'm surprised we don't hear more heavy music in Open E Minor tuning. It makes perfect sense, more than Drop-D tuning. Actual one-finger chords right across the fret board. You can't do that in Drop-D.
