That growl effect with distortion is great, can you tell more about it? I’m planning to make a boogie song with Solaria and a similar effect could be useful.
Disclaimer : I don't feel I'm good at all at making vocal synths scream, so maybe my method will not help you as much as I want. My method is very... skecthy and weird, but I will do my best at explaining it. 1 - At the start, you'l need to have a clean synthesis of your voice, you can put a litte bit of EQ on it in order to make the voice more clear before beginning to make it growl. 2 - One you have the voice parts you want to make growl, it's time to use an old VST that is often use by many metal vocaloid producers to my knowledge : Charsiesis. This is a 32bit VST and is very weird to download today. I believe the Kaito Metal Producer SweetSoSweet made a tutorial about Charsiesis and they can help you to ger it more easily, don't hesitate to check their RU-vid channel. With my Charsiesis, I put the voices at 32 et ajust the min-rate (I think it's somthing like that) between 150 or 300, It changes wtih the vocal and the song i work with/on. and tadaaaa! your voice is completly destroyed... but you can play wirh its sound, to simulate a growl effect! 3 - You can but a classic distortion effect on it, to add some puch to the heavily distorted voice. For example, as I'm doing my vocal mixes in FL Studio, I often add the Fruity Blood Overdrive effect on it, at 20-40%. 4 - After that : EQ, EQ, EQ, EQ, EQ, EQ!!! Lots of EQ to make this voice not disgusting to hear. Of course, you don't want to put 1000 EQ effects on it because the scream voice needs its dirty sound to be a scream voice, but you will sure need to "clean" it with at least 3 EQ plugins. 5 - And it's done! While mixing the scream along the vocals, use the usual compression/reverb thing, add the same effects you add on your clean/classic vocals as well to your scream voice, in order to get an uniform vocal mix.
