I didn't know who Al Jarreou was when I first saw this. I thought Jarreou was the name of a country and the joke was that people from that country are known to not like Syrian's much. Well Al Jarreou was a singer so now I get the joke and boy was my initial assumptions way off. My original take on the joke was probably darker than the joke actually was.
