im sorry that i have to say that, but it makes me cringe that you didnt wash with powerwasher intercooler and radiator, that would affect in the good cooling of the engine.
Not yet, I have a few ideas but will start drawing things up this month and aim for the new livery next month but yes I will be keeping the silver base
To turbo or not to turbo the E30, I'd say go for it! If you're already inclined, it'll make a fun build and good content. Looking forward to your videos in 2024 and beyond. RU-vid is all about consistency, no big youtuber was born overnight, it was all persistence, getting better, more comfortable, etc. I think you're on the right path. And, as you say, if anything, it'll help the business. Even if you ever want to part with one car you've documented on RU-vid, it'll make it easier for the buyer to see everything that was done to it and how it was done. I know if I was on your side of the island I'd be paying you a visit, for sure, for some wrenching. Have a good 2024!
Happy new year and thanks man hard work and perseverance and progression is what I enjoy so hopefully get somewhere one day 😎 yeah that’s definitely been one thing I’m constantly asking myself since getting the car 😂 the thing is I did actually get to drive this car when it was running 10psi and that was a decent power increase lovely progressive boost and so controllable to drive fast which is why I want a boosted e30 in my life 😂 Where are you from ?
I would turbo it mate. You can always put it back to standard at a later date if you wanted to. Stick at the videos I'm looking forward to the roadtrip ones 👍
The irony of it is that was the exact same thing I said to the previous owner which is why it’s still got the number matching engine 😂 road trip coming soon plus the e46 touring will be making its way into the workshop this month for more upgrades 😎
Very surprised, and I suppose, heartened to see my old Integrale, is still going, if only just. I recognised the registration and see the original stickers are still in the rear window. I bought the car from John Whalley in Bishops Stortford, who was the 'go to' dealer in the south at the time. Sadly, I think he has retired. I sold the car about 20 years ago, when I lost a suitable place to store it. It was just starting to bubble in the usual Integrale places, the rear of the roof (above the tailgate) and around the base of the windscreen. From the video, neither of these two places seem to have got any worse! Once restored. it's probably worth at least 10 times what I sold it for - so good luck. I've kept the tradition going and now have a 16v, bought from Walkers, and in great condition. Despite being 34 years old it's a great drive - sublime steering and amazing traction out of corners. Keep up the good work - and good luck with the restoration.
Hello that’s awesome thanks for messaging it’s always nice hearing the history of cars, The car has been off the road since 2007 and mileage is like 70k I know it’s been dry stored in various places from previous owners so that’s lucky the corrosion hadn’t got to much worse after your ownership I’m not going to rush this build i want everything to be of the highest standards I can achieve, I do now have it on the ramp so more videos will be coming soon Glad to hear you’ve now got a 16v as a replacement 😎
Adam love your honesty! - found you in the last few days and totally respect the effort you are putting into sharing all your content and being an absolutely genuine legend in the process
Number 23 Haha yes just in time 👌 thanks that’s greatly appreciated hopefully looking to employ some help soon so that should help speed up some ideas I have for 2024 😎
Not the biggest fan of the E46 Compact front/headlights (no idea if people replace them or if it's even possible), but that E36 Compact looks pretty good as is. But of course, much better with all the goodies, manual transmission, even the BBS's are nice.
Yes the E46 compact is certainly you ugly duckling out of the lot, never really understood why they changed the appearance so dramatically although they have increased massively in value (decent m sport 325i) and seem more popular now. E36 compacts are my favourite for many reasons haha thanks I’ve finally found the matching centre caps for the bbs alloys 😎
Number 17 Hello, thank you 😎 yes I will be attempting it again and can’t wait, just got so tied down with work and was struggling to get the timing right to do it, so what I’ll be doing is another video of upgrades of parts taken from the grey touring and then I’ll attempt it again so end of January. Car has been running faultlessly and used daily since which is typical 😂
I daily an e46 330d myself and i can't fault it, i bought it with a noisy dual mass flywheel. I replaced it with a new one and it's returning 40 mpg just running around town so it will be interesting to see what mpg you achieve on a long journey.
Number 11 Haha yes space is definitely a premium so I’ve got to be creative 😂 I left certain parts like the steering rack loosely on and pushed it out side to get the last bits off it involves alot of struggling, swearing and car pushing that’s for sure 😂
Number 8 Thank you, I’m trying to get myself in a position to employ some help next year either in the workshop or with the social media side of things so I can bring some energy to the channel 😎
Beautiful car man. Had me subbed at the thumbnail. Thats one of my favorite colourss. Regret selling my henna red. Is this the same mktor as in the E36 318iS?We never got the 318iS in S.Africa.
They are awesome looking cars for sure 😎 I do like a henna red e30 👌 The very early e36 318is used the same 1.8 16v m42 engine as the e30 318is and then the later 1995 onwards e36 318is went to the m44 1.9 16v That’s such a shame although didn’t S.Africa get alot of the e30 325iX 4wd model ?
@@TeamSegersThanks for the info. As far as I know we didnt get 325iX. I could be wrong. We got the homologation special mtech2 325iS(M20 2.7 144kw evo1 and evo2 155kw) & the super rare M30 333i(mtech1)
... And then BMW South Africa stuck an m30 into one of these in the form of the 333i. 😂 It'd be interesting to drive a cylinder E30. Wont flame it because Ive never tried it. Its an E30 so a win nonetheless!
Wow that is interesting I didn’t know that, I have driven an m30 3.5 converted e30 before and that’s a very heavy engine to put in the front of it for sure definitely noticeable on narrow winding roads 😂
Thank you, yeah there’s just something about a touring that’s just awesome 😎 I had actually bought a mint original 325i silver touring but px’d it for this e30 coupe before the silver one arrived, that car most likely will make an appearance soon 👌
The price of e30 tourings are currently low and certainly worth getting one if the opportunity comes up as they will shoot up massively in value as all tourings have become increasingly popular like the e36 touring I can’t find a nice one under 5k now it’s crazy 😅
These types of videos really make me happy there's no snow/salt on the roads here in the Winter, it must be a nightmare to maintain a car to prevent rust. Keep on with the videos and the good work, it's good to see people committed working on these 20 plus year old cars.
Haha yeah don’t rub it in that us brits for some reason still uses salt on the road 😂 Thank you that means a lot 😎 upcoming video of a budget winter fun car coming soon 👌
They start chucking salt out when it hits around 4c, I just can’t bring myself to drive mine anymore in the winter. So much upkeep washing that crap off the body and underside 😩
It is the most viable solution you are right I had the silver m3 rolling shell first which I wanted a full lightweight track car build, there is an update video coming soon I’ve fully made my mind up and now committed to rebuild the black one, the market isn’t right at the moment for breaking cars or selling them and I’ve got enough cars in parts already 😂
People can do whatever they want to their cars, but as someone that likes them, it's crazy to see they state then end up. It's like their hard earned money to buy the car, in the first place, is being tossed out of the window, by not keeping it properly. This M3 is beyond the "just missed some maintenance" it was properly neglected ... such a shame. Keep on going with the videos, you're on the right track!
I fully agree with your comment people can do what they want but like you say for car enthusiasts to watch other cars get neglected it is a shame but I guess it gives other people like me who can’t afford the mint condition ones a chance to own them 😎… and bankrupt themselves trying to save the car 😂 Thank you that means a lot 👍
Thank you and yeah it’s definitely a collection that needs a lot of work 😅 but I’ll get there one day 😎 just one car missing and that’s a BMW E28 5 series so I’ll be looking for one down the line 😂
4 years later and 25000 pound later and it will be just fine haha...i hear crankshaft bearings (metalic sound) and more ...low compression ...engine need to be total revision.i did one like this look my chanel ..i spend more than enough to get it right ...i put 90ps extra in it and reinforced the 5th gear and heavy paddle clutch and different motormanagement (kms)8bar max injectors rustfree 70mm exhaust bc coilover and more but it took me 4 years to get all the parts and fix it proper.Make it Bare chassis lot of welding...succes!
Haha I like that comment because that’s the kind of time scale and amount of money I was thinking it will be, yeah there are some dry bearing noises that sound horrible coming from the engine along with electrical issues and a lot more other issues but that will be coming out in the next episode a full overhaul will be happening. I don’t want to cut any corners with this car at all it deserves the best available, awesome I look forward to watching some of your videos 👌
Hello, I do use a rust converter from rustbuster but only on the areas there’s corrosion etc not on the areas of shiny clean metal, and no primer because it’s not normal black spray paint it doesn’t need a primer or lacquer and builds up thick and is very durable. I much prefer it than powder coating because it doesn’t chip or flake away If you meant clean the rust instead of wiring wheeling it back to bare metal it’s because the trailing arms have a rubbery black coating and a wax layer from factory
because they're half a job..I've done this on my Z3 and the trailing arms were caked in rust. So ground them down to shiny steel, THEN apply a rust preventative treatment, then paint or else you're just painting over dormant rust
The coolant hose without the extra hose for egr cooler , you need 1 from a manual 184 as it dosnt have the egr cooler from stock , i converted my 184 from auto to manual , and the manual 1 never had a egr cooler , also got rid of the auto gearbox cooler while i was at it , loving your videos keep it up
Hi thanks for the input knowledge is key and always nice to share info for others benefit 👌 that’s cool and its not a cheap conversion to do now a days the parts are very expensive, thanks appreciate the kind comment 😎
Don’t suppose you know the model of car the coolant hoses without the egr take off is from do you? Brilliant idea I was just about to buy an egr delete with with blanks to!
I’ll do that for you within the next few days 👍 I chose the 184hp one as it has a long mot which meant I could get straight out and do some challenges with the car and it supposedly needed less parts 😂 the 204hp I want to keep long term so will at some point go through the whole car Polly bushes loads of upgrades etc and make the body work mint👌
I know what you mean and then moan like hell when there’s a big bill for the MOT 😂 a little expensive TLC coming up, just gathering some parts together and then another video coming soon 😎
I specialise in BMWs so do get offered cars fairly often but fb market place or eBay there’s some pretty good deals to be had, look for miss listed cars also late July and august was definitely buyers market for sure 👌
Cool man thank much appreciated 😎 I’m based in southwest uk, Volvos I haven’t really had much to do with if I’m honest wouldn’t mind an 850r but the prices are just shooting up, BMWs is what I’ve done for just over 10 years
@@TeamSegers nice one. Yeah love my beemers, have owned well over 100. Still have a 1990 325i Motorsport Convertible in Sebring Grey and a 330Ci M Sport manual. 850’s are great, got a 98 V70R for sale if you want. Needs a cylinder head, which is why I asked if you worked on Volvos lol
