Broadcasting Scotland is a new broadcaster for Scotland, producing programmes from a Scottish perspective, targeting audiences, inside Scotland and beyond.
Our mission is to entertain, educate and inform. We believe it is important that Scotland should have an alternative broadcaster, trusted by viewers and which will provide quality original programming across all genres. We will produce new original Scottish programmes, working with young programme makers, helping them develop their careers in Scotland. We will partner with colleges and universities to provide opportunities for work experience and career development.
Broadcasting Scotland plans to provide a full range of programming, including news, current affairs and documentaries, entertainment and variety, drama, music and comedy, suitable for all ages, which is aimed at audiences both inside Scotland, as well as a global audience interested in Scotland and Scottish culture.

The panel omitted to mention that Standardized Testing should allow information to be collated which will identify areas where the attainment gap can be closed. This should not lead to an increase in teacher's workload as John Swinney pointed out in an interview following his speech to the EIS. On another point made about 18yr old entry to universities, no-one pointed out that other ages of entry have increased. A point, I believe, which Nicola Sturgeon made at FMQs last week. I do not believe that the EIS receive public support for strike action except from the politically motivated.
And the arts in general as well, I feel that they are part of the culture of a country and something I am sure that UNESCO would be appalled that this country's government regards it as so unimportant, besides we can't all be Einstein, so no, Dougie is right about the arts, they are a vital critical part of our nation
I would love to give Dougie more support in ridding this view that the film industry in this country is more of a hobby, I deplore this attitude in general which is why I was so delighted to learn that the film studios up in Scotland was opened a month ago
Dougie is very funny with a delightful sense of humour regarding as to whether people knew where it was, very interesting that there is a bit more reference to it in our weather forecast so l reckon Dougie helped to put it on the map
I know not very long ago, the President of ECOSOC[part of the UN General Assembly took some avid interest in Douglas Henshall and his activities and views, I would like to see him being given a position as Goodwill Ambassador ,he would be ideal
