The question about how she choreographs pieces was really interesting. I use to teach dance to kids and teens, and also did a lot of solo work back when I was still with my studio. I always found that playing a song that I really connected to emotionally would then lead onto an image in my mind of what the story of the dance could be about, etc. I would choreograph everything on the spot but record it so that I didn’t forget it and could watch it back and change parts of it if needed. Also, her being known for her consistency with turns is so right. I remember so many people only talking about her turns, or when she was on Dance Moms everyone was focusing on her crazy turn combos because they knew she would deliver.
OMG These arms and the small leg prep is what I use to do naturally, before I was corrected again and again and again. I'm not a dancer anymore but good to know my instincts were right!
It was nice to see Amari and her long time friend and fellow Zato alien Bailey Holt, I love this young lady and far to many people who are supposed to be her friends treat her like crap. She deserves better.
I’m pretty sure that’s Bailey Holt (@baibaidean). She’s a great dancer who assists choreographer Zoi Tatopoulos (@ztato) And I think her and Kaycee were dance partners when they were younger.
How I wish this panel existed when I was young. It literally brought tears to my eyes knowing how I missed my calling-whether it was my parents lack of understanding, that fact society looked at arts (as a career) completely differently, or that the technology just didn't exist in 1992 as it does today. However, as this panel so eloquently emphasized, when one is so consumed with a passion to dance that nothing else matters, I will learn all that I yearned to learn when I was young-tap, ballet, hip-hop, piano, and filmmaking-regardless of my age, regardless of the voices of my parents that I still hear in my brain. Regardless of any thing anyone wants to say to me that says otherwise. Not just because I want to, but because I can.
"Be unique figure out what is unique about you, your physicality, your ethnicity" Sean: * proceeds to make asian eyes * Honestly one of the reasons I follow Sean is cuz we share an ethnicity, also because I rarely see any asians in the dance/film industry here in America (especially in the mainstream)
Lmaooo yess this was like one of the best moments 😭😭. And your rightt it is so cool to see more Asian representation in this industry! Sean is jus like my fav person honestly lol
Sean's intro was so shy and short but in reality his maturity and understanding of dance is comparable and may even exceed that of these adults beside him.
Sean I'm quite a bit older than you bro, but the honest and authentic way you carry yourself is inspirational. You are definitely in good company there young man and you deserve years of success. Can't wait to see what awesomeness your collaborations bring to the world. Bravo.
Oh yeah his maturity is absolutely amazing and this is why he gets so much success and he is so respected. He knows what he wants and like u i can't wait to watch his futures collab and as choregrapher
