Thanks for watching and for all of these great comments. First congrats on your degree and if you have any questions about what direction to go in, please don't hesitate to contact me. With all that has been said and discussed over the past few weeks I wanted to give a clinical perspective as I had not seen one as you mentioned and to break it down from a different angle. This was based on the song and from other songs that Kendrick has written about himself. I did not see it as diss tracks but actually a song about fatherhood and to learn how to be a better one. If you're interested, you can contact us and find out about other clinical programs that we also offer. Thanks again and much appreciation.

Thanks for watching and commenting and sharing your perspectives. This was a clinical breakdown based on how I had interpreted the song and from other songs that Kendrick had written about himself, that was it. I do not know Kendrick, his family or how he grew up in his neighborhood. No one is disputing that he had a father and I hope that he had a great relationship with him. However, from working with many patients in their home you can have a father in your life that is physically there but is not there emotionally. The result is that the person will often struggle a great deal as an adult.

Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts and perspectives. I did this clinical background back on my experience and how I had interpreted the song and other songs that Kendrick has written about himself. Also, I had not seen anyone else do a breakdown like mine. I do not know Kendrick, his family or how he grew up in His neighborhood. Yes, he did have a father growing up, and I hope he had a great relationship with him. but from working with many people in their homes, you can have a father in your life physically, but he may not be there emotionally. This result of that happening is that the individual grows up into adulthood with long term mental health issues.

Analysis without context... you've made it tougher for yourself. Just a couple: Kendrick has a father in his life, he sings about it often. The piss on your leg reference is both a lesson to the son AND dot reporting what actually happened to drake. No backbone Throw rocks and hide hands is an important one, im surprised you skipped that, dots reaffirming that being accountable (think denying kids) is important as an adult. Do some push ups isnt a masculine thing, drake takes a weight-loss drug and allegedly has a BBL (brazil reference), so he has no drive to see hard work and sacrifice through.

Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts and perspectives with us, we are always open to hearing other viewpoints from fans like yourself when we do these breakdowns. This clinical breakdown was based on how I had interpreted the song and other songs that Kendrick has sung about his life, that it. We know that Kendrick had a father in his life, and I hope that he had a great relationship with him. My point was that I have worked with a lot of people in their homes, and I have seen fathers not there and fathers that were there but absent emotionally and the impact it had on kids who became adults and had mental health issues. I have also worked with patients who used working out and getting bigger as a way to hide from others and not have to show their inner side and in a sense themselves. As for what Drake does or does not, I am not there, so it the becomes speculation, which I have learned is often wrong. Thanks, again, for your take on the song

Pleae, before making a diagnosis on a patient, don't you inform yourself well? Try to find out a little more about the life of Kendrick and his parents before issuing an opinion that does not match reality, even from a professional point of view. That's my advice if you don't want to be the next one he writes a song for.

Fantastic analysis but I feel like the kindred spirit analysis is off.. saying they’re not enemies and there’s no real animosity is imo is incorrect.. the next song was titled “they not like us” Kendrick is exposing framing drake as being a complete polar opposite to him. He’s not calling him a pdf for no reason. Everyone has known he’s into young girls which is supported by tons and tons of questionable words and behavior by Drake .. and Kendrick sees Drake as performing Kendrick’s own culture for his own benefit while actively causing real cultural and societal harm. He genuinely sees Drake as a cancer in the culture. The idea of Drake existing and not only being accepted but being idolized and worshipped is rightfully seen as a sick unhealthy thing by him and the difference between them that really stands out is in character. Kendrick means what he says . Drake couldn’t care less as long as it makes him look like he wants to look on the surface . Kendrick sees Drake as a person with no honor . Someone who is profiting off of the performance of what Kendrick actually is to the detriment to everyone else .. also Kendrick’s father was around

Thaks for watching and commenting and sharing with us your thoughts and perspectives about the song. I also appreciate the effort you put in to bring out the points that you feel Kendrick was trying to make regarding Drake. I wanted to do a clinical breakdown based on the song as I saw it and also songs from Kedrick that he has sung about in the past, that's it. I don't know Kendrick, his family or what his experiences were growing up in his neighborhood. I saw the song as a father talking to another father and telling him the importance of being there for his child and not to recreate mistakes that he may have seen growing up. As for the he said, she said stuff, I see the points that you are making but I was not there and what happens is that it turns into speculation and speculation is almost always wrong. I appreciate and respect the amount of time you put in your response, thank you.

I think in the segment where he’s giving advice to Adonis there’s so much thematic emphasis on grounding him in his racial identity, juxtaposing that with Drake really performing American blackness when it benefits him then talking like he’s always talked in every interview when he’s being candid.. and honestly he talks in a very feminine very white upper middle class Canadian way. There’s a video of him as a teenager and he and a few cast members from degrassi were talking and they were talking about slang that people used at his school.. a girl said “that’s interesting”.. to which he replied “no it’s not it’s ignorant” and the things he’s saying speaks to real internalized white supremacy within Drake

Thanks for watching and sharing with us your perspective. We really appreciate it because just as much as we hope that you get something out of the clinical breakdown, we enjoy it when we get to see things through your eyes as well as that helps us grow. While I realize that everyone on the planet sees the songs going back and forth as a diss, what I got out of this song was a father talking to a father and when talking to the son he was giving him a lesson on self-confidence, self-worth and self-esteem to one day be a good father. This is why I stress the importance of having an active father in one's life, because you really do need to have one.

I was really intrigued when I started hearing an "outsider" reviewing a hip hop battle... until I heard you go on about these two rappers both being pro-physique. If you don't rock with that because you're one of those "men" who like the easy way out of work that doesn't produce a check, that's fine, but don't minimize a characteristic of masculinity just because you yourself can't see the benefit of a strong, healthy body. It's facetious to pretend that your physician is lavishing you with great news every time YOU visit him or her in that body you've earned. If you'll be honest with yourself and just write this thing off as something that alpha males hold in high regard, you would do your channel better by just not even pointing out this trait that these two rappers share. Hope you find peace and understanding in my words.

Thanks for watching and commenting and sharing with us your thoughts and perspectives and opinions. With all that was being said I wanted to give a clinical analysis based on the song and other songs that Kendrick has written where he talks about himself growing up in his own words, that was it. The point that I was making about both of them working out is that I have worked with many people that used working out and being muscular as a way to avoid having to share their feelings and thoughts by hiding behind their body. As for working out and going to the gym, we tell people to do something physical every day to help with issues of depression, PTSD and with coping with mental illness and life in general. If more people worked out instead of substance abuse, overeating and other self-destructive behaviors they would be a lot better off. No knocks on a healthy body from us. Appreciate the passion and your feelings.

The point I was making was that clinically I have worked with many people in their homes that had fathers that were there physically but not there emotionally. What happens is that kids then become adults with a lot of mental health issues because of that. I hope that Kendrick did have a good relationship with his father, and this breakdown was how I saw the song clinically, that's all.

I’m a little confused because Kendricks father was always in his life. He grew up in a two parent home Do some pushups- pushups refers to the diss Drake released to Kendrick but also references that rather than having discipline and putting work in Drake got cosmetic surgery. The fitness is about mental strength as much as physical, willingness to work hard. He’s keeping his child around them- he’s saying Drake has people involved around him that are involved in trafficking and pedophilia.

Thanks for watching the video breakdown and sharing your perspectives with us. I am always open to other people's views. Given all that I had been reading and seeing these past few weeks, we wanted to give a clinical perspective which I did not see out in social media. My breakdown was based on how I interpreted the song and other songs where Kendrick talked about his life, that it. I don't know Kedrick, his family, or how he grew up or for that matter fit in the neighborhood. What I do know from spending so much time in the homes of people doing assessments and counseling is that a father, hopefully, will be in your life, physically, but he may not be there mentally, which has huge ramifications when you become an adult. For me going any deeper than that often becomes speculation which I don't do, because you start to assume things

@@brucemufson5810 I appreciate your perspective and you seem like a very sweet kind man. I do feel that you may have made some stereotypical assumptions about Kendrick. Thanks for watching and commenting and sharing with us your thoughts and perspectives. The breakdown was based on how I had understood the song and from past albums where Kendrick had discussed his life and growing up. My point about the working out is based on working with people who used working and exercise, as a way to hide feelings of insecurity or anxiety and by building up their physique they kept people at bay from knowing the real person inside. That is based on my clinical experience. Yes, Kendrick had a father in his life, but from my work experience of working with people in their homes, I have been with fathers who were there physically and not emotionally. This is the point I was trying to get across. As for the back-and-forth stuff between the two of them I can't speak to that as it then becomes speculation.

I was talking and giving my daughter the attention. Then I started talking to my group of kids. Then we started having fun then some kids from the other groups started wanting to join my group. Even seeing kids with their own parents wanting to join a run with me. Was amazing to see. But at the end of the day. I kinda wondered if the kids in my group got the same attention in there home.
