Yes, we do it often and depends on a lot of options. We are finishing up a 2.8 auto swap on a 2008 aero as we speak. Feel free to email us at info@snailwerx.com for more details.
This is almost comical, I’m about to buy a Saab 9.3 turbo X which is unfortunately an auto but I’de like to manual swap it sooner or later lol, thanks to this video I could do it lmao
I would love to swap my 9-3 NG wagon to a 6-speed but also swap the B207 for the supercharged chevy LSJ that was put into the Saturn Ion Red Line and Cobalt SS
Rust free and cheap in the dry Wild West. Getting Hip with the youngsters up in Boulder Colorado. Teens (and old dudes) love the ancient clam shell styling. Good Finnish build quality on the verts. Borg Warner Automatics cared for by earth loving young women will last forever, easy 250+k. But give it to speedster boyfriend and it's gone in a week. Party like it is the 1980's! Love the famous scene in the movie Paid In Full..."looks like a gosh darn spaceship. Put some really cool BBS on it!" Remember the Yuppies on the 1986 wait lists for the new convertible. The Tesla of the 70's and 80's. Pre GM Quality worth saving. Rear wheel drive? CLARKSON WILL LOVE YOU! But he hated the convertible. All exported to cheesy Americans eating burgers. 5 speed worth restoring for old dudes. Restomod a trashed slushbox for a boy racer. Drift it! Loose the old tank Triumph motor for something modern and tunable. BEST LEATHER SEATS EVER! Who stole the door sills? Just took my '91 vert daily driver to the shop, one of the ye ole tymers who will still work on them. So analog. Spring rush in the shop. A very low mileage Springtime in Sweden and awesome lowered 3 spoke wheeler in front of mine! Wait patiently. Pay big$$$ for some parts, if you can find them. SRS light on in mine and also on the cool three spoke, saab stories galore!
It is doable and sounds the same. However, the closer to the turbo, the better. The purpose of a BOV/diverter valve is to alleviate pressure once the throttle body is closed.
You can send us an email at info@snailwerx.com for any further questions, but we have quite a few different options on our website. The one in the video is our more affordable, in-house option, but we also offer multiple turbo smart brand options. 😃🐌
I vote to keep it and restore it! It will be super fun to drive. That convertible in better condition will only increase in value over time. Tearing it apart just to burn rubber? No way! That is NOT what this car or any Saab was built for. I would definitely unsubscribe if you went down that road. 8^/
You guys should definitely get in touch with the Saab community and see if you can exchange ideas, source hard to find parts, etc. Lots of great people in the Saab community: Lee Kelso, Kyle Pancis, Kyle Lindsay (aka. SaabKyle04 on RU-vid), Paul Ames (aka. Amesie's Automotive Corner on RU-vid), Jacob Pretzman (aka. Auto Autopsy on RU-vid), Marcus & Manuela ́s Saab Channel, Jonas Kakarikas, and many more.
I agree with you about the automatics on the c900 cars. However the manual transmissions can also be problematic as well. Mostly on that car I remember the manual gearboxes would wear out overtime or leak. So if you own one of those there's a good chance you may need to overhaul that transmission at a foreseeable future date.
The manual transmissions died on earlier 900s because of tolerance issues. They weren't built necessarily for the wear caused by turbos/more torque. So, the metal wore out. In 88? 89 they started to use more metal/thicker parts in order to last longer. They built slightly stronger transmission parts each year after. The failed transmissions typically were in turbo models. In comparison my non-turbo 1989 has had the same transmission in it since I bought it in 2000. As far as I know, it is the original transmission from the factory.
@@pbutter237 Interesting, that doesn’t surprise me though. being that this car is turbo the gearbox is fair game for sure. For something like this if somebody were to restore this car, I would recommend reaching out to Paul Cangialosi in regards to overhauling the manual gearbox.
I usually always say "Keep it stock" but why not convert it to RWD and we all get to see how the car could've been! As for the color, Merlot red is beautiful on a C900 or why not Espresso black from a 2004 og9-5?
Super Aeros, nice seats, SPG panels, and rear scania badge! Def a nice find. Fully support the drivetrain going into that sweet 99 you showed. However, I’m not feeling orange - laser red for me
Love the idea of coral color, and our intention is to swap the e brake setup from an 86 parts car we had, since 88 is the switch year for the e brake . Just like the wheel bolt pattern changed in 88. All of those changes were made in 88, e brake being one of them.
I would’ve stopped at Re-ringing the master and slave, cut and buff it up and made it a Perma cab down Beater, But I like where your heads at with this. At 218 K that runs like a top and sounds like it should so stick that in your 99 and smoke the tires.
