I also made a machine very similar to it, I used its single slot to size my hollow balls, And used the same technique of drilled plate in between to insure metal to metal contact scratches are not produced while machining. Because when we rotate the ball ball in front moves downward and upwards at behind, and the ball behind act same so at that point of time metel to metal contact occurs, to prevent that i made cardboard round plate and let it revolve with the balls your bottom plate has grooves but upper plate is flat with diamond file like surface, Mine both had grooves with perfect location, When i press the plate with the help of another thrust bearing loaded top pressure plate the machine shrinks the ball in lower size and the walls of the balls gets thicker then before.....
