I have 2 Scotties. Jasper will be 13 4th of July, and Maisie Mae will be 4 May 24th. He's a easy going boy, and she's busy girl but love bug! So different in personalities!
May I suggest teaching him roll over on a carpeted surface. I have had both Cairn terriers, and also Westies. They really do not like the hardwood floor against their back. I noticed how he laid down, attempted to roll, and then gave you ‘the look’, as if to say, Na… I’m not doing that. Mine was the same way until I got him to do it on the carpet.
This video reminds me--many years ago, a friend made films of children's books--One of which was "Angus Lost" from the 1930's--it starred a Scotty--with his black coat and black eyes, he was very hard to light--a spot had to shine on his head in every shot
I’ve had many dogs, and I will say our Scottie, Bruce, has by far the biggest personality of them all. Very smart, loveable, loyal, and can litterally play all day. He loves to watch hunting shows with me and gets worked up at the deer he sees on TV and in our front yard. But if he’s in the yard and a deer walks through, he’s smart enough not to charge it. Just kind of growls and stares at it. Squirrels are a much different story. 😄
I had my Scottie trained to sit, stay, roll over, sit on hind legs, speak when she was only a few months old. Then I signed her up for obedience classes and after we were done and graduation we had to show what we learned then they asked if anyone’s puppy could do other stuff. Well my girl shined! There were 8 other dogs and none of them could do what she did.
It's hard for him the wood floor ! I know . I have one 3 year's a Go ! Emmitt My Boy 💓🙏 he did a lot too. It's still My cry. I will get one . But I have he's little girl Emily.. . BLESS you all.
My Scottie, Minnie Pearl, was the biggest personality of the canine world, and brilliant. She loved watching the dog shows, Gentle Ben, and the Garfield specials on TV. She loved watching the catfish in my sons ‘ aquarium, riding in their go-cart, and sliding down the sliding board by herself. She was a peerless “singer,” too. I will always miss her.
Marcy Sperry thanks so much for posting this adorable vid of your Lennox. He’s already a star, and seeing him brought back a lot of joyful memories of my Minnie. I have a toy poodle named Twinkie now, and she’s an adorable rascal, too!
we taught our scottie to sit with treats. But she never does it on command, instead when she wants a treat, she'll run next to one of us, sits and awaits her reward.
