If the train-set are enjoyed by the kids who play with them, and instill in them a lifelong love of model railroading, then they're _not_ "worthless." 'Nuff sed.
I still have my first Lionel set that I got when I was 6 months old - it's not worth a ton on the current market, but I wouldn't get rid of it at any price because of it's value to me. Unfortunately, value and worth are two different things.
I have a question about a piece of rolling stock why Lionel made two versions of a twing dome take car the Sunoco which is my favorite and the other one had several different names Such as rocket fuel on it but to find this particular car in any other scale is next to impossible I've only seen them either cet bashed or was made by a company that had gone out of business decades ago like globe and they were meta in which I have two of them And in my opinion very rare.....
I have a couple of the Readers Digest N scale pieces that I have painted into my favorite railroad New York Central. They do fit and roll on N scale track, at least straight track. Their couplers are compatible with Rapido couplers, which are what I use. But the couplers are hard-molded and do not flex to go around curves. So for my purposes they aren't very useful other than as visual props on straight track, but in that capacity they look good enough for the likes of me.
I stick with athern and atlas. I like mantua but no longer. I have a Bachman for my cats to play with. Oh I have prewar(I think) Lionel engine 400 and cars all in original boxes, interested?
Interesting assessment, have to say the Bachmann Big Haulers was my first introduction to G-scale in the late 80's. Know they were designed to be a budget introductory set, and not anything close to being a premium grade like "Bachmann Spectrum." I have to say I started out with the plastic track, battery operated engines, and had many fun hours, they were remote control. Then moved to that tin metal track you spoke of...and purchased later the first DCC command 2000 MRC system with later engines. The problem with those sets regarding a hobby Shop is they were easily available in big box stores in the late 80's. They were always regarded a low end introductory set, but as you say is not good for hobby shop sales. Still they were really fun and the market was likely very narrow.. and now I use all the major "brand" G-scale engines in DCC control, but my old Big Hauler is setting on the top self as a distant memory.
Did you intentionally leave out American made Micro-Trains?? There’s a huge collector following for their N and Z scale line of rolling stock and locomotives.
This is normally what I like to do at flea markets But if I see something I really want on ebay then I will gamble like when I got 5 Bachmann 4-4-0s for 75 B&O PRR CP60 UP119 & DisneyWorld, bought a Tyco lot last week for 50 because it had the foam tunnels...
11:44 12:07 Except for ez tech. I will say I definitely got started into G. scale with Eztech, Because it's cheap and it does the job to get kind of started in g scale
Good catches. Love the nighttime shots. It is still so sad what has become of Iaeger with the death of coal. I grew up in coal country in WV many decades ago along the B&O. Coal drag after another 6 days/nights per week. I used to fall asleep to the sound of the 5 nights per week 10:30 PM train passing near our neighborhood up the hill.
Fun video, and I'm assuming those layouts will be saved once Entertrainment Junction closes especially if Neil only loaned them and still owns them. By the way, I don't believe Neil actually OWNED Lionel but he WAS a major shareholder at one time and a driving force behind the development of TMCC.
It’s Lionel’s Workin’ On The Railroad, a big hard workin’ train. Load the logs and load the barrels and hoist ‘em with the crane. When she tries to block your engine, here’s what you can do… UH-OH Grab a hold of that big throttle, and you’ll bust right on through!
December 2015 my girlfriend and I took a vacation to Colorado to ride the Durango and Silverton we had the rear observation private car adults only car. In the middle of the trip as was standing on the back platform taken pictures a crew member brought Neil Young and Daryl Hannah so cool just the 4 of us. Both of them dressed goofy with these big fur coat and hats look like something you would see in Russia lol. The train stopped in the middle of know where to pick the up and drop them off
Grand Trunk Western and Norfolk & Western were two prominent roads that preferred their GP models to operate long hood forward, at least in the early days.
@@Swoose17 More crash protection for the crew is one reason I've heard cited. Similar to steam engines that preceded the diesel era in which the majority of the locomotive was in front of the crew.
I know rod Stewart and elton john have layouts and frank sanautra did in the day bruce springsteen I think dose first time seen a artist take one on tour very cool 😎 👍 good job niel one more thing to love him for 😊❤
