Have recently bought Wyrmspan and I always do the teach for the family. Loved the video, it was really clear what you were doing and was amusing to watch your chemistry too. Looking forward to getting this to the table this afternoon. Thanks guys
Have you guys ever considered making a King of Tokyo TTRPG? I could see it having a simple system like Steve Jackson's Toon, where you design your own kaiju and then either compete with your friends in various ways, or team up to battle enemies.
I would like to see them alter the art work on the tiles so its not so jumbled up and at least give them an outline/brighten it up. Then some balancing and we got a good game.
As a father of two daughters and a Christian, Nightshift is certainly not a game for me. That being said, the creator is well within their rights to produce and make a product they feel proud of and consumers are free to support it or not support it. I certainly have opinions on this theme as someone who wants to see people valued for their character and not their appearance or sex appeal. That being said, clubs like what are being depicted do exist and there is a large population that take part in it. I simply don’t care for the harm that takes place in that industry as a whole. If people want to detach themselves and view this game as a fun experience, they have every right. Just as there are a lot of violent games that nobody thinks twice about. Themes may resonate or not. It’s the real world harm that I have witnessed in industries that are near those depicted in the aforementioned game that I have a hard time detaching from. This is just my perspective, no judgements.
@@MacScelaro Did you not read my reply about violence being a theme that’s also not for me? I’m not backing Odalin or GrimCoven or games like that either. I stated the difference being that I have known a lot of first-hand accounts where sex work or pornography have caused serious harm. I get that the creator of the game doesn’t see the strip club scene as demeaning or degrading and that they felt empowered through it. More power to them. I have simply seen abuse, drug use, and worse from women coming out of those settings. The primary difference is the “fantasy” setting of a lot of these dark and violent games. I suppose a lot of others don’t have problems with those types of games, where I do. What I don’t have a problem with is both Nightshift and Odalin having a right to exist and consumers making the decisions to support them or not.
@lonniestewart8428 I read your reply. I just feel your message does more harm than good. It is another stereotypical christian coming out due to sex being brought up. The same voice is oddly silent when demonic forces are elevated and saught after. Isn't that more the focus of the bible? Just an observation
@@MacScelaro Clearly you’re not reading my replies because I stated that I don’t support games like Odalin, GrimCoven, or other games that depict violence or the demonic. You’re basically calling me a hypocrite when I’ve stated the primary difference is that the sex industry has caused great harm to a number of people that I’ve known. Do I personally believe that demonic influences and witchcraft are harmful? Yes I do. I also have numerous stories about those things, but this isn’t the place for me to state all of them. I feel like it would just be twisted anyway. I personally haven’t bought Quacks of Quedlinburg because of the witchcraft theme even though I think the game looks interesting and fun. As I’ve continued to state, I don’t have the right to keep any games (violent, sex-themed, witchcraft, or demonic-themed) from being published. I simply won’t support them financially. And I can’t and won’t stop someone else from supporting them with their voice and money.
@lonniestewart8428 I clearly read all your replies. I just pointed out the flaws in your focus and how this causes your initial messages to be received. You can be in denial about this focus, but it doesn't change the issue at hand.
Oh wow, thank you so much for such a high quality review of this game. This was the first video I saw from you, and I just HAVE to compliment you on your voice, and the way you talk in general, coming from someone who's first language is not english. This video was a delight to listen to, it didn't feel rushed, or like you were just trying to get it over with. Just very calm and kind vibes. You really highlighted the key points of this game, and truly it's just such a beautiful game isn't it! I wish it was more widely available, it's almost impossible to buy this here in Europe. But I've been meaning to join a group order from a webshop, and this video might have just given me the last push to actually buy it! Again, thank you, and keep up the wondeful work! ☺
im hyped for it. I literally got the greek one a couple days ago and as my first horrified and havent played yet, and then heard this new one will incorporate it as well. Heck yes!
Great video, i belive the enemies all start face down and do not flip over until the card activates them, at that point they just turn face up, next time they activate they move/attack
Yeah, lots to choose from. I enjoyed Janeway but my favorite Trek series was Voyager. Can't say 7-of-Nine didn't sway me but she didn't show up until season 4. Still, I'm surprised Kirk, Janeway, and Archer aren't in this right now. I get that you need diverse captains from different factions. Cardassians and Kazon are a must and you can't forget the Borg queen.
I wish they re-made all of the Marvel stuff (or did Marvel second). I don’t need more United, and I like the X-men stuff more thematically, but this has the most advanced mechanics. 😢
What is your opinion on the AI system? It looks super generic. Not bad. Just not different. Dragori has amazing production quality, great art, incredible minis, some of the best writing, the theme is awesome….but the game seems kinda bland. Like ok hi can power up for one good move. That’s all that’s unique? Help me understand. I really want to want this game
1. I just like the theme in general and how it ties into the gameplay. 2. I like my AI simple and less about doing 5 things to make it seem complicated. I would rather have difficult objective and survival be a priority. I also want to spend more time doing my turns "the cool shit" 3. The card system is where it's at combining a combination of your cards with demon card, which means different hero to demon combinations galore, I think is a HUGE selling point for replay 4. While I can't speak to volumes of content, I get the feel of a long form dungeon crawl with enough decisions and rewards for strategy and tactics. 5. The positioning and time, which is a effects your characters based on adjacency, timing on who you kill, and when is really cool to say the least. Even if they tweak it, really smart mechanic. I can see this morphing in development Hopefully I answered your questions. Thanks for watching.
YEAH BUDDY! The world is deperate for heroes. All could be lost!!!!! Hold off as long as you like but for the difference between faith and death of the human or human-like races....embrace it and do cool stuff
very well done on the overview! This game looks fantastic and Dragori has a very good track record of supporting their games, as they did in Tanares over many years, which is superb. The gameplay is definitely fresh.
I'm really choosey. Thanks for watching. I will always cover games that I would back with my own money. This one has a lot of interesting mechanics and I hope they don't change much.
I love your explanation and I think it looks like a very cool game. There's a lot here. The character progression looks cool, the many ways/reasons to play cards looks cool, there's reasons to reposition which I love (I don't like it when it's always move in & hit) and the theme is uncommon and interesting. It's tough to know exactly how it feels to play of course but I'm really drawn to this one. I've heard people mention Massive Darkness II, I've heard people mention Tanares (as past pedigree) and I've heard people mention Diablo. Yes, yes and yes please.
Is it too late to back this project? I just ran into it this moment, and I loved Marvel United so much. I wish DC had the same, and here it is. Also, is this just for the single core box originally? Will later, more sets come out with the ability for people to back them the way it was for Marvel United?
Just as with Marvel United, I just don't get the appeal of this character design. There are so many different but equally amazing art styles from the comic books they could've picked and instead they went with these big-headed midgets.
The Chibi-style comes from anime and manga, but has also been used in many early CMON games like Arcadia Quest, etc. It’s not for everyone, but I dig it.
Yes I always enjoyed the Chibi-style design too, fits this game well. If you prefer a different style then theree always. marvel zombies or marvel crisis protocol
I haven’t played much of that personally, but Ryan has. Based on everything I know, I would estimate that this will have content on par with past United campaigns, and this should have at least what past iterations have mechanically speaking.
This rule has always been the same for all the Marvel United games since the beginning. Heroes play 3 cards then the villain.... But soon as you complete one mission the villain is under pressure and will play a card after everyone two hero cards
So how did you feel about the maintenence and upkeep you had to manage throughout the game? With the new cards that sit in the storyline and allow you to flip, it feels like there was more accounting that had to be....accounted for? Do you think this is more because its new to you guys and something you just need to get used to? Or does the United system have a sweetspot where at some point you are sacrficing flow of the game to push the boundaries of creative space?
They have been slowly increasing complexity, and stuff you have to remember, all along. This seems like just another very slight bump over the previous United offerings. Is that good or bad? It really depends on what you want from a United game. Personally, I prefer the relative simplicity of the original Marvel United. For serious gamers, these increases are welcome, and increase the fun of the game for them. On the plus side, the ongoing effects are now color coded, making them easier to see (and hopefully remember).
Maintenance didn’t feel too bad, but it’s is a process oriented game for sure. We haven’t played much United historically, so anything you sensed in this play was probably just us getting used to it.
Oh wow! Good catch. The game isn't terribly challenging to track everything, but we just don't have a massive amount of experience with the system. Plus, we could use all the help we could get. 😅
@@meeple You actually shared the Location when you had the plan to "let's hold off until the end of the Villain turn", it was just by that point, the dynamic of the board changed. Easy oversight. Great gameplay!
