I dont have a sewing machine so would have to hand stitch. I literally cried watching this because I have my son's shirt that looks similar to this one. He wore it when he took me to eat last Mother's Day. He died unexpectedly a few months later on Nov 8, 2023. Age 29 😢 Do you know if there is a way to get a photo turned into an iron on transfer? I have a selfie that we took together on that day and would love to have the photo on the pillow.
If you know the size of the square unfinished then you can do a grid pattern as you have done, but instead of separate squares just do a huge square with lines all the way down & across with no gaps. It saves fabric & lots of time. Like cutting brownies in a pan. Easier to set up too. Also use transfer tape on mat (mat is sticky & holds transfer tape) then peel up paper so sticky part is exposed, place fabric on transfer tape. Keeps mat clean & sticky longer.
My beautiful husband of 56 years passed away 10 days ago and he loved his flannel shirts and wore them all the time. I'm going to make one for each of my 3 children and myself. Thank you for sharing this lovely idea. Big hugs from Australia.
❤ my condolences. I lost my husband of 46 years, and he wore plaid shirts just like in the video. But like yours, he wore the same kind of shirts everyday too. I am going to make one for each of our 3 daughters, 1 for myself, and 2 granddaughters. I have to do mine by hand. I don't see or have a machine but I have been watching videos on his to do it by hand. I think using Leslie's pattern, it won't be too hard. It may take. While though, but hey, time I have plenty of. Anyway, hugs to you on your grief journey.
Hi Lesley…i am trying to make a screensaver for iPhone. I followed the steps and saved my image, then uploaded that image onto a watercolour background. The result is a watercolour background with a white rectangle in the middle of it. Do you know how to help me with this? Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing especially the quote. I just lost my Dad last week and grabbed a few of his shirts. Seeing how easy this is, I may grab some more and pass them out to family.
Lots of them can be found on Etsy. That’s where I always get mine. I’ve used several different merchants just do a search for embroidery memory, patch for pillow.
I try to do pillow covers that can easily come off to wash the cover when needed. That's another benefit to the snaps on this one you are making. If the shirt has perspiration smell, before using the shirt for your pillow cover, soak at least 1 hour, 12 parts warm water to 1 part vinegar. Then launder as usual. Unless you want the memory of the person whose shirt it was.
