The Philippines do not have to change anything for foreigners foreigners needs to change for the Philippines and speak the language if they are going to live in the Philippines.
Thailand and Philippines are better. Vietnam is NOT a good value for Western retirees unless one has a certain connection to the country. But neither does Vietnam want foreigner immigrants, because it is strained to the max with its own socio-economic challenges. I participated in an economics workshop last year in Vietnam. The government placed top priority on attracting and managing FDI, and it was more concerned with accommodating foreign workers coming to Vietnam (from Korea, US, Japan, EU,...) than general immigrants, since it is important to keep these expat workers happy to live and work, be productive and help Vietnam economy.

These countries are so different - lived in the three of them. Quality of healthcare, lifestyle city (Bkk) and convenience: Thailand. Authenticity: Vietnam. English speaking: Philippines.
Did you know that 99% of Canadians live les than 100 miles of the U.S. border because the rest of it is an ice hell....they must be praying for global warming.
Thailand is not the place to retire anymore. Great to visit or live and work there, but not for retirees. Starting 1 Jan 2024 Thailand now taxes the income of retired Expats (including Pensions), if you live in Thailand 180 days or more in a year, while all the other countries in SEAsia do not. Hopefully Thailand will change their mind, but as it is now, starting on Jan 2025 Expats have been told to pay income taxes on the money they brought to Thailand from 1 Jan 2024 onwards. Thailand also wants to implement worldwide taxation, so even if you dont remit the money to Thailand they want to tax it . No matter how good their Visas are or the country is - for retired Expats Thailand is not the best option (we are leaving).
pointing only your lips and not your fingers maybe true to isolated rural villages but not to small cities and municipality proper.as a filipino myself and my acquaintances, including siblings, childhood friends etc.also used to point fingers.but its really impolite to point your fingers in the direction to someone that you don't know like a certain group of friends hanging out on some place.coz maybe you're just innocently referring to the place behind them like restaurants, but it may create an impression that by pointing your finger on their direction is you're looking for trouble and what you're doing is dangerous especially if someone is drinking over there.instead, use your eyes and lips by describing where you wanted to go,pay your respect and greet them.they may invite you for a drink but its just for formality as a sign of friendship from them.and you can just pass by you are not acquianted with each other on the first place.but also, dont point your fingers and/or just nod and ride along with them, when the locals advise you that some forested areas, rivers and/or lagoons are sheltering some elemantals and you should also pay some respects like the locals do (tabi-tabi po). supposedly reacting that its just some superstitions are considered rude, offensive and disrespectful to their cultures and traditions.also, some locals are persistent on inviting you on their drinking sessions but if you're not into liquors, buying them half case of beer or a few bottle of hard drinks will be a great complement to them.(there's a filipino drinkers quotation that says, kung ayaw mong uminom, magpainom ka.if you don't want to drink with us,then just treat us.)
@@Globe_Gazette welcome.in addition, the sense and sensibility of the urban middle class and rich filipinos are just like the westerners.we can laugh and joke about politics, cultures and even ourselves even if we have different political ideas and cultural backgrounds.the same though,on a lesser extent on the town proper of municipalities since many of them are also working on the cities and exposed to the western cultures and/or media.but as you say,its different to the more isolated villages.they are more sensitive but they are also the most hospitable filipinos.like they can even kill their domesticated chickens which they would like to be sold in the markets or been reserved during some occasions.or they can even gave their bedrooms to you while they will just lay down on the living room while you're staying with them.but you should also be mindful and easy to distinguish when they're ready to invite you for a lunch or dinner or they're just friendly and wants to please you.like if they invited you when you go to their house showing to their door unexpectedly but they looked bored they are not sincere in inviting you.otherwise, you will just put yourselves on some awkward situations where there are not enough cooked rice or viands in the table.but if they are excited liked they are repeatedly inviting you and some people, almost laughing, especially if there's some occasions.
Welcome to the phippines is the great place in the word I hope injoy in the phippines people humble loving the foreigner it's funny helpol very religious feeling home...
Philippines is only OK if you are Not on a budget.. Its Not Cheap esp Medical.. and Food is not as good as Thailand..only beer is cheap..better stay in your own country or retire somewhere else..
Thailand is the most westernized for farangs but getting more and more expensive every year. The Philippines are big mess infrastructure are really bad pile of trash everywhere although people are nice and most of them speaks English crime and scams in ever level is an issue. I think the most suitable countries are now Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos in that region.
@@BarryBigbols The level of which one has shittier infrastructure is still on debate but Cambodia is much safer than the Philippines. Cambodia's communist government is very tough on crimes so I felt much safer in Cambodia than the Philippines.
Please go anywhere outside. The Philippines, we dont want people to come and destroy our beautifully sculpted land and beaches. a lot of tourist leave trash as if we dont have our own problems already. Keep the Phillipines natural!
Ph is expensive, and the quality of food and service is below average compared to Vietnam and Thailand. If you like nature sure go to Ph, but even then, it will take you days to get to the beautiful islands.
I'm Filipino but for expat who are looking for countries in Southeast Asia to retire I recommend first for you to consider our brother neighbors Vietnam and Thailand, but for expat who really wants to select Philippines we are very glad and openly arms to welcome you🤗
If you are English speaking Expat you will not have problem in communication in the 🇵🇭 also if you came from Spanish speaking country locals can able to understand in broken castillan because the dialect is mix with Spanish words. Any way Expats please do not come here in our native land ,🇵🇭 we are already more than 100 million. Kindly go to other SE country . Thanks 😁😀
Have been to both Thailand and the Philippines was very disappointed with the Ph. the food infrastructure and the Medical care don't compare been in Thailand for 2 yrs now and absolutely Love it

I've done 20 trips to Vietnam in the past 10 years. Hanoi and Saigon are just too hectic if you're a person who likes more of an outdoor lifestyle. Da Nang is probably the best option in Vietnam. People often talk about how great Vietnam food is, but the reality is that Vietnam food lacks good quality protein. It's predominantly noodles and vegetables that resemble weeds. If you want to lose weight, spend a few months in Vietnam. All things considered, I've found the best place in South-east Asis to live is Phuket. International airport, good infrastructure, great beaches, plenty of green areas, excellent shopping malls, and, most importantly, the best food options. Aside from excellent Thai and seafood, you can buy inexpensive good quality chicken, pork, and eggs at the Makro bulk food supermarket. This type of shopping just isnt available in Vietnam or the Phillipines. Safe travels, Mega.
Ii been to Thailand honestly speaking I struggle a lot because Thai don't speak English and it's so bad because I need to ask the hotel reception to write location and give it to the taxi. English is not spoken in thailand😂😂😂😂😂😂
Da Nang city...is the best; no crimes, no scam...beautiful beaches within the downtown's local cafe...where you can get free, fast internet...best suit for expats....
