Hello! My teacher. In from Zanzibar Island. I'm new in Czech language and i opened my eyes from your RU-vid. I didn't see verbs topic and simple present tense. It's very important for us.
Thank you, you have such a good method in teaching. By the way, you look exactly like james mcavoy... Thay might call you in Hollywood as a second actor.
I always thought the "hook" was generally called a háček regardless of the letter it accompanies. Does e s háčkem mean it's specific to the e (or ě) only? Thanks I just learned today that the old English word "haca" means the same thing :)
Wow. That’s the best introduction to Czech reading I’ve heard so far and I genuinely feel like I’ve learnt so much from one tiny video. I’m a beginner and definitely subscribing and looking forward to learning more!
Hi thank you for your excellent video, it really helped clarified things a lot. I do have a (perhaps silly) question though, what if I'm addressing a group of people whom I just know? I'm assuming in present tense, that will still be: mluvite česky and in past tense, it will be mluvili jste česky (mixed or male groups) mluvily jste česky (female only group)
I hope to find some help and clarification on why Ř sounds like a ž when it’s on the end of the word! I’d like to surprise my grandpa by being able to do my R’s as it has bothered him his whole life haha
Thank you for the lecture! I just started to learn a Czech language, just for fun. As a Polish person I can see so many similarities between our languages, not only in pronunciation but also in many words. Dziękuję i pozdrawiam!
Thank you for a compliment! :) We've just watched 1670 in original (with subtitles), what a beautiful language you have there in Poland! (It's a really funny series too).
"Reading is very simple in Czech" Ahh yes, and "strč prst skrz krk" is famously very simple to read, you just have to invent the sound of the nonexistent vowels in your mind as you read it...
Yes, spelling and reading in Czech can be really easy when you realize that most of the words look like their phonetic transcriptions when written down :)
It is not easy to pronounce the letter "Ř", it's the peculiarity of the Czech language and after this consonant you immediately realize that someone isn't a native Czech speaker. Even the Slovaks, who speak a language similar to Czech, do not completely manage to say "Ř" correctly, pronouncing approximately Rž. And YES, some Czech children go to a logopedist for this "Ř"!
That is true, it really is not easy to master the sound, and it is sometimes quite noticeable in Slovak speakers who speak Czech. However, I also know a lot of native Slovaks who have perfect Ř and also some non-slavic speakers who learnt it perfectly, like Mickey ;)
Zdravím vás Ladislave . Můj jazyk je srbština. Moc se mi líbí poslouchat češtinu. Today I found this site. I've been fan of czech language from 2019 The hardest thing in this language for me are letters h ,d' and t' I like your British accent
I've just started learning Czech in preparation for a trip to Prague in May. Děkuju moc za toto video! This is the best breakdown I've come across for "thank you" and I found it incredibly useful! I can tell you put a lot of thought into this and the way you presented the information was excellent. This is going straight into my Czech playlist here on RU-vid! Thanks again. Michael z Anglie!
I have struggled with this for so long and this lesson is now my resource for nailing it! Thank you, Mr. Masopust for your help, and time creating such detailed content within a tidy, perfectly concentrated video. I have a lifetime of learning Czech ahead of me and I am blessed to have you as a teacher!
Obviously we're going with pirate greetings. Thank you for making all these videos! I haven't caught up on them yet, but so far they are really helping me fill the gaps with duolingo.
The normal R in Czech was easy to learn for, as I'm from Germany and we have many speakers of Slavic languages here. So when they speak German, some keep their accent with R. Similar to English the Ř sound doesn't exist in my native. I had to train that for two months every day, before I got it almost right. Still have my struggle with it though. Sometimes I bite my tongue, when I say "čtyři" for example. XD
