Well Gets What Jemma Rix I Have Vanessa Amorosi’s Version Of Hero’s Live Forever On The Opening Ceremony Of The 2000 Olympic Games A Sydney Celebration 2000 DVD
With a range that fit the song perfectly, and delivered in a way anthems should be delivered - clearly, confidently and with absolute conviction - Jemma Rix, finally, has given Australians that rare thing: a joyous, uplifting rendition, and one we should forever be proud of.
I have this version. Hobson, as he sings to Mimi on the ladder, was so beautiful, and I can’t forget his tears at the end, when he was making curtain calls. Also enjoyed the Lemkes’ performances.
Love the choir that aren't even mic'ed and the drum fills the guy pretends to play when he's still holding his brushes. This is all mimed to playback people.
Thanks so much to everybody who has commented on this video. it has been a pleasure to be able to share this. He is a great artist beyond words !! happy to share the love XXX
Frank Rizzo, how do you know it's prerecorded? she seemed to hit it way too on point for her to be lip synching that. I wasn't there (wish I had been, but America is pretty far away lol) but from what I see she looks to be actually singing it.
Amazing rendition by this wonderful lady. Please also check out my male version of this song but don't be too harsh with me, since I don't claim to be a good singer.
May not have been the most appropriate song but man, can that girl sing! Just shows what a properly trained voice can do. None of the current nasally screeching you see on the TV 'talent' shows. Open your mouth, breath deeply and sing from the diaphram. She is a joy to listen to.
I really don't think Heros Live Forever is a suitable song for a sport that revolves around gambling. I have seen it sung at the Olympics and Bledisloe and I am quite disappointed by its use yesterday. Sung beautifully though...
Not to mention last year Lucy Durack & David Hobson sung Dare To Dream... I wonder what Opening Ceremony song they will use next year? The Flame or Under Southern Skies?
Such a powerful voice! Reminds me so much of Julie Anthony. Only two renditions I've heard that seem worthy to sing the National Anthem. Hopefully will get to see her in Wicked soon :)
She was spectacular!!!!!! I missed it when it was on TV and I have been dying to see it. And now its here!!! As for wicked, She is without a doubt the best Elphie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't get it out of my head that this is Elphie singing in tribute to Glinda after leaving Oz… Actually, totally picturing it as a duet (Glinda singing parts while holding that green bottle and remembering Elphie). Oh, now I've made myself sad.
Amazing & stunning performance ! I never thought anyone could top Vanessa Amorosi with this song - and her performance of it at the Sydney Olympics is an absolute favourite of mine that gets played a lot - but this woman is impressive ! We have some amazing talent here :) You did Australia proud Jemma Rix. Just wonderful :)
Just not sure about the Fleetwood Mac inspired dress worn in the final. Dad was sitting at home and agreed....He thought it was Vicki Anderson all over again from the Thomas Crown Affair except Faye Dunaway was (still is) a brilliant actress and Mr Trustman hates so many ripping his film off.
I love the fact that Erica can take an experienced persons opinion and laugh at herself. I have to say it's gutsy to perform in front of a crowd let alone on national television......Nice to see you again.....I hope Burt agrees.
